Setting Eggs 12/27 Anyone else?

Hi Cynthis12!!

Sure is close enough!! My lazy behind didn't get my eggs in until the 28th, and then I added a late egg on the 29th.

I know I candled early, but the cochin eggs are a light brown and very easy to see through. That's half the fun!!

Momofthreechicks, how long do turkey eggs take? I have never raised turkeys..... but I definitely understand the urge to add just a couple more eggs.

Hi, Ajcress, nice to see you here, too. I am so glad I am not alone in the winter hatching madness.

I see several people from the Christmas thread are at it again.

ClintD, good luck with your shipped eggs especially!! I will be anxious to hear how you like the LG. I am planning to take the plunge this spring and buy an incubator, I am currently using a homemade incubator with a water heater thermostat in an old Omaha steak box. I hand turn 3X's a day. I would like an incubator with a turner so I could set more at a time.

I have the LG still air without the turner and I have used it for years with lots of success! It is very inportant to keep it somewhere the temperature doesn't change to keep it more stable. I also took both red plugs out to adjust the temp for more airflow. set temp at 100 degrees and your ready!! that was just my method..it worked!! good luck in what ever you decide to do!!!

ClintD I also wish you good luck!! the shipped eggs I had gotten for the Christmas thread all grew but quit on me... I had alot of humidity issues so I think that was the problem..

I really need a lesson on how to post pics to this site.. I would love to post pics of my new egg hotel and the little LG that I have. I think I will keep the lg for an overflow brooder to make sure everything is kept separated.. anyone care to post pics of their bators??

To Post Photos On BYC Forum:

The easiest way to display your coop, chickens, and other fun pictures on BYC is to use the BYC Image Upload Tool . Here are the steps:

1) Click on the "Uploads " link at the very top of every page (in the blue menu bar).
2) Once the "Upload image" page loads, click the "Browse" button and find the jpg or gif picture on your computer and then click the "Submit" button.
3) Your image will be uploaded (and resized if needed) and you will be presented with a thumbnail of your picture along with two image code options:

Thumb - This is the code you use to show a small version of your image that can be clicked to show the full size image.
Image - This is the code you use to show the full size image directly in your post.

4) Copy the image code and paste it into your post.

Hope this helps and Happy New Year

Hi Athena. I used to live in VA. I was a lot younger then. lol... I moved to Utah. Quite a change in scenery. I love the huge mountains here though. They are beautiful when you get up into the canyons. They are beautiful to me still at I am driving down the street, and there they are! Right there, rising right up in front of you. Just beautiful.

I think they take 28 days. This is my first year with the turkeys so I am still learning the ropes.

I think if we get more turkey eggs I will have to calendar it out, some how I don't think I want them brooding with the silkies.

I have 16 eggs due to hatch on the 12th!
