Setting Eggs 12/28 - Hatching Buddies? Hatch-Along

I set my hen w/ 6 eggs on the 29th, and as of today, I don't think any of hatched. She is a bantam cochin, and the eggs are from three different hens, all with the same Americauna roo. Two are from a Black Star hen, two from a bantam cochin, and two from an Americauna. Didn't move her to peek beneath and see if any had little cracks yet, but didn't heat any peeping or see any egg fragments around the nest. How many days do I give the eggs to hatch before assuming this setting is a bust? Hoping to see/hear signs of life tomorrow!

LaseterLass, sorry about your losses.

DraighAthar, love those babies. So adorable!

Eggorthechicken, have you taped your splay legged baby yet?

Xiamenmom, I think your babies aren't even due until tomorrow. I'd wait til Monday or so and then start to worry.

Don't give up! They aren't due until tomorrow and it can take a couple more days. You can peek under her to see if you have any pips, but I would wait until the end of tomorrow to do that.

We came home tonight and the little splayed leg chicken died. we did tape up the legs but I guess it just wasn't strong enough. The others seem to be doing well... still waiting to see if I have any late hatches. my broody still hasn't hatched her yet either but with the ups and downs weather wise I am giving a few more days too.

The third pip tried and tried but no progress. I stepped in and freed it, no blood or unabsorbed yolk. There for a while I thought it was missing an eye, after much q-tip work there are two. It's in fluffing with the other two.

Candled the other three but didn't see anything and no pips. Put them back in for a couple more days just to be sure.

I'm biting my fingernails now cutting it this close. It's the beginning of Day 20 and I still haven't locked down yet, however I have no internal pips and my air cells are looking MUCH better!

I'm going to candle them in the morning and lock down whether there's an internal pip or not. I think 20.5 days of water loss should be sufficient.

I wound up having eggs from different hens lose weight at quite different rates, so I set up the other incubator as a hatcher and just moved eggs over from the main incubator as they approached target weight. Some of them were ready for lockdown on day 18, but I had two eggs that didn't go into lockdown until late in day 20, and they still hatched just fine. So I'll look forward to hearing how your hatch turns out, too!

I am on Day 21 and FINALLY had 3 of the 25 pip last night. Two are tiny pips and haven't even quite broken all the way through the shell. The third made a nice little hole--facing the back of the incubator where I can't see in! Toot! Hoping at least one tries to emerge sometime today to cheer the others on!
