Setting Eggs 4/17! Who's With Me?

I am also incubating. I placed them in the incubator on 4/16. Hatch date is 5/6. I think I have 43 eggs in there! 2+ doz black copper marans, 4 EE's,1+ doz sicilian buttercups. I hope to get a 50% hatch rate as these are shipped eggs. I am also pretty new at this, this is my 2nd incubation and I have a still air.

Okay I am the first to admit that I have wholly spoiled my banty silkie Winnie. Instead of going-over to the coop at night she sits by the back patio door. She is. Very clean, quiet, calm and snuggly. I have posted a pic of her in her diaper on my bed on my blog boisebackyardchickens.blogspot.com We were watching the office. ....commence laughter.

Love the diaper and Winnie is very beautiful. Hmmmm wondering if I can design mini diapers for my chicks..although DH and I are already teasing ourselves about how we baby them.
Good luck with your hatch

Thanks so much! She is so spoiled. I used a pair of tights for material. It's easy to manipulate and stretch. Winnie still sleeps on my headboard.. it's definitely and unusual sleeping arrangement. My husband so sweet to put up with her.

Good luck on your hatch! Come on day 21!

I candled a few eggs tonight. It has only been 3 days, the ones I checked, most seemed to have some veining. some, not so sure. I could not see much in the olive eggs, so we shall see on those. I dropped one of the millie fluer eggs right on the floor. Surprisingly, it did not break, I marked it, just to keep an extra eye on it. I feel much better now.

day 4 candle! (last night)

I candled a few also last nite .. Was suprised to see my shipped MF D'uccles veining .. yay!

Harder to tell on the standard tinted eggs.

We set 27 eggs on the 18th This is our second try. First one we got 7 out 12 RIR. they are 21 days old. I think we have 4 roos. may have to give away 3.

I got both beeds off ebay. The Marans came from Dodd City, TX and the buttercups came from Greenwood, AR. Both arrived on the same day and were started the next morning. I candled a few last night and saw veins! So far so good. I'm so afraid I will mess something up.
I seem to need chickens that produce every color of egg that is available! I already have plans for olive eggs. Why are chickens so addicting?
