Setting eggs in incubator May 3rd...Anyone with me?

I got a total of nineteen babies after locking down 21! There are 11 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 3 Lavendar Orpingtons, 3 Black Copper Marans, 1 Basque, and 1 Olive Egger (Aracauna/BCM cross). I was sad about the ones that didn't hatch, but glad it turned out so well with shipped eggs and my very first hatch!

I have 8 out of 10 so far

I'm not expecting the 1 until tomorrow I put it in a day later, it is day 21 for the other.

The bigger blonde chick in the last picture died last night. Nature's will, but one a brighter note one of my last remaining eggs pipped so I will see what happens there and the egg on day 22 still nothing.

Sorry about the chick that died :( are those buff orpingtons?

all is well for the 3 chicks they all are jumpy and cute in the brooder and it seems they dry faster outside the incubator the black one was washed blow dried then put in the brooder and is a little cute energetic ball the other one that was flipped is ok but its bleeding from one of its wings what should i do the blood seems still wet and sometimes theyd get tired and fall on their behinds the bedding is aspen. Also there is more pipping in the incubator yay but their a problem wont bacteria grow from the other chicks that hatched i took out whatever debris i could and their is still duck eggs inside aswell they are still turning will this affect them in anyway when should i sterilize.

Surprisingly all 3 of the chicks I figured that I would have to cull are still alive. The swelling went down on two of the chicks and I can't tell which two they were now. One of them, I'm figuring is still going to die. I was just holding out hope that with some food, water and time it would grow stronger and the problem with the leg would disappear like the others but it hasn't. So I don't believe it will survive much longer.

My mama hen is still doing great with her 8 chicks too! so I have I think 19 baby chicks? And two white chinese goslings that my sister bought me from orchelns ... Good thing someone gave me the perfect little metal cage to hold them in until they're ready to go outside.

would you know what happens if you help a chick out of its shell and make it too easy for him to get out i heard they excete stuff when pushing themselves out when i helped them did this do anything.

I'm not sure what to do about the bleeding one. It might keep bleeding instead of clotting up if the other two chicks are pecking at it. I heard that chicks will peck at red things when they're newly hatched for some reason. I've never used aspen bedding, always Yellow pine shavings from feeders supply or orchelns. I put them on it from day 1 and they peck at it but don't seem to try to eat it. The only bedding I've heard not to use is cedar. I'm not sure what to do about the bacteria in the brooder and sterilization while the duck eggs are still in. I wouldn't want to give you bad advice. I've actually yet to clean out my incubator from this hatch ... it's getting stinky so I will be doing that today and turning it back on getting it ready to hatch more in about a week. I'm about to set 41 eggs in my new incubator with the turner tonight

I don't know about that. I haven't heard anything about it. I helped 3 from this hatch and any one I've helped before has always seemed fine except for this recent leg problem with one of mine from being smushed in the shell to long while I was at work. It sounds like you're over thinking and worrying a bit to much

Sometimes you just need to sit back, relax and watch the little ones and smile.

The one that died was a Buff Orpington roo X Red Sex Link hen the other blondes are pure breed Buffs. My last Buff just hatched 10 minutes ago.

I have one left that hasn't hatched day 22 so not sure it will. But all in all I had an excellent hatch for a first timer so I'm happy.
