Setting eggs on 3/7. Anyone else?

I'm afraid I've lost all of mine too. Day 24 and I don't see any movement when candling. :hit

Fortunately I have another incubator going with 27 EE in it and they are looking great. These are a week behind the others so that will help with the loss. Except for the fact that there were 7 Australorps from a friend in the other.

I also have a broody Buff setting on 12 and a broody Silkie setting on 5. :) Those girls, I'm sure will do a much better job than I've done.

I set 35 eggs (27 full size and 8 bantam) on 3/9 and went to lockdown with 32. (two of the bantams were just eggs and one of the full size eggs had a little blood in it upon breaking open) The first one (a bantam) hatched on 3/27 just hours after lockdown. I think she must have been under a broody hen before coming here and I ended up removing her before the rest of the eggs started hatching because I didn't want her staying in too long. The rest hatched 3/29,30. I had one of my three leghorns pip and then die. Three of the bantams have not done anything yet and are still in the incubator. I am going to leave them in there and see if anything happens. I candled them and they have chicks in there but I didn't really see any movement. If I were to see movement, would it be very obvious? There was quite a bit of activity in the incubator and I am wondering if they got too jostled. All total at this point I have 28 chicks in the brooder. Most are looking really good, except for one of the little bantams who does not appear to be eating or drinking at this point. (it hatched yesterday late afternoon)

I am so sorry to hear of the poor hatches for some of you. That must be really hard.

Good luck to all who are still waiting.

Day 21 for me was Saturday.

I presently have 7 live healthy chicks from the yard eggs I set for a friend. At Day 14 candling she had 10 out of 12 developing. There is still one more of hers pipped and cheeping this morning. so 8 out of 10 isnt bad....

Of my 10 shipped speckled sussex eggs I had 6 developing on track at day 14 candling... Not a single chick. I had one pip and then nothing for over 24 hours. No tapping, no cheeping. I eggtopsied and found a poorly developed chick with egg yolk not fully absorbed. Husband said I had one pip this morning... but I have very little hope of it hatching out as well.

We'll eggtopsy anymore that has not hatched out/making noise this evening (day 23).

Well today we lost one of the two that actually hatched. I knew something was wrong with it because it just looked weak. Curled toes as well. We tried vitamins and made an electrolyte drink. But last night it had a very quiet chirp. And was leaning over to one side. By noon it was gone. Poor thing. We still have one white chantecler going strong. And loud as all heck!

I'm wondering at what point I should put it in with the 2 week old chicks? We had bought some live, but holy cow are they bigger than him! He's alone right now in his own brooder. I thought of making him a little smaller one and putting it inside the big brooder so they can get used to him. Suggestions?

that seems like a wise choice. Make sure he can get away from them and still have contact. They bigger ones will slow down their growth and it will give him a chance to catch up. Then they can all be together.

Sorry to hear about the one who didn't make it.
