Setting eggs on FEB 10

I really wish that I could be more helpful! If I could look at them in person maybe I could say better. Too bad we are so far apart. :(

Your aircells can't be worse then some of mine and they are still alive!

I mean in the 5 you can obviously see a good air sack formed properly and the majority of the egg below is dark and filling, but these 3 I just don't see anything. 2 I see the air cell moving around when I roll the egg, so it never reattached, am i correct? I don't want to risk an explosion lol. The very oblong odd egg has some sort of brown specks almost growing on the outside of the shell. What on earth is it? Looks like beads of condensation but hard and stuck to the egg and brown. About the size of a pen head I'd say.

Hm, that condensation thing you're describing was on Hatching Eggs 101 under the shipped eggs section, but I couldn't ever figure out what it meant. I think you're right that a rolling air cell is bad news, but as usual, I would say don't give up on it! I have a lot of eggs that look clear and porous (some of yours look like this) that I'm just going to leave in the incubator. I'm not sure how people get exploding eggs but it doesn't make sense that it would happen to fresh eggs at incubator temps, based on what I've read. Wish I could be of more help

I candled a few more of mine and found out there was one girl the roo just insisted upon not breeding, so none of her eggs are fertile (and she happened to lay a lot). Luckily my blue eggs are all looking good so far! And my White Rock eggs (crossed with the Ameraucana roo, of course) are also looking good. I think there are a few RSL eggs in there that made it but most are the ones looking pretty clear.

I just ordered Ameraucana and BLRW eggs (12+ of each) from a breeder on here that should arrive next week... I'm really nervous to try to hatch those!!

It's going to be a lot of finger crossing...

I'll still be incubating then. I set 18 duck eggs yesterday and those take 28 days. I don't know if I will ever NOT be incubating again! LOL.

YAY FOR BABY QUAIL! OK I'm still not sure what to do. When we lock down Wednesday night, should I remove those eggs w/ swimming air cells and that look somewhat clear?

So nice to see!! Very precious

How are you coping with the multiple hatches at different times? Does having 2 incubators just solve that problem entirely?
I am using my old one starting now primarily as a hatcher. The quail are in there with eggs in cartons so strained by shipping the seller told me to not turn or tilt them at all for a week. By the time its time for lockdown on chickens the quail should be done hatching. After that they are spaced far enough in days to make it work, or close enough to hatch together. At least that's the plan.

If they aren't completely dark and full looking by lockdown they probably quit. One of my eggs with the worse air cell damage quit yesterday. I have 3 of the Easter hatch Polish left, 2 silkies and 2 "polkies".

I took the odd shaped egg out that was having little speckles of stuff "growing" on it, and put it in a Ziploc bag and cracked it. Just a yolk that never started :-( Got 2 others i'll decide on tomorrow evening at lock down, but 5/8 are going strong! Now if I don't kill them!

Question......again lol. When I take out the turner here in a few moments, the eggs will be laying lower so the temp will be a little lower. One post somewhere said either put them in egg cartons to keep them the same position and height, one said raise the grate on the bottom and lay flat, one said not to worry lay them flat and dont adjust temp because they're bigger and generating some heat themselves and that hatchery bators do this as a cool down function. What do I do? Also, should I mist to keep up humidity if need be? That's the only thing I've done to be able to see condensation on windows. Also, of the 3 breeds I have in the bator (lemon cuckoo orps, swedish hens and coronation sussex) will I be able to tell them apart when they hatch?? LOCK DOWN FOR EASTER TODAY YAY!
