Awesome. :) I woke up to a 1 egg w/ an external pip... i'm still a bit nervous because it's only 1 small pip. don't know exactly when it happened but when i was in the room looking there was no movement. :( nervous...

I just got home from work about 45 minutes ago and guess what I had greeting me in the incubator. Six baby Plymouth Partridge Rocks there's several more that have piped. I took a couple of pictures, but they are not the best with the glare from the viewing window. There must have been a lot happening last night wish I could have been here to see it. Least I know Old Orange really works now. That's what I named my incubator. I'll let you know if I have anymore arrivals, but at least I didn't get skunked.

AW LUCKY! No worries. Patience is key. It can take a long time for progress to be made after the pip!

awww. congrats new parent!!! :)
always an exciting thing to see babies have arrived. My eggs started to pip.. okay just 1 of the 7 and it was the one that I felt a "kick" in yesterday. lol. Soooo excited. but still nervous as i previously stated but at least this time I see progress in the hatch and it's not all a lost cause like last year.

I went in and looked in the incubator a few minutes ago and just like magic there's seven now and another one starting to zip. There crawling all over the eggs and knocking them around. I think that's spurring the others to get out and join the party.

That's why I don't pull the hatchlings out quickly. They do communicate with each other and it is like popcorn when they all pop right together!

Awww. I had to go to the grocery store and when i came back another egg was pipping. i can hear all the chirps. one of my fears is that the inside will harden and they won't be able to get out. :( I don't like to assist hatch, tried once and it was a total failure. last time i had birds hatching one was like deformed and had a huge sack of blood. ewww. ick factor. I wonder what dried out egg thing looks like during hatch so i know what to look for.

I love your setup in Old Orange! Ingenious!! And congratulations on your success so far... and good luck for continued success.... I have a question for you, since you have the Spot Check. I can't exactly tell how you have it positioned. Is it hanging, laying on something, or what? I have one, ran it through a vent hole, used a single cup from an egg carton, bread-tied the cup into my turner, cut a couple slits in it, and it holds my Spot Check probe at egg height. Actually the cup just holds the wire. The main probe hangs out on its own, above a couple empty turner cups. BUT... it reads low. This is my first incubation using it, and I really want to trust it, but I know my other 2 thermometers, and the Spot Check just seems to be low. So I was wondering if it should be suspended, or resting on something. I thought the instructions said for it to not touch the eggs.

I wish everyone else good luck with their hatches!! I'm only on day 13 today, but have 14 very healthy looking lavender orpingtons that I am im-patiently waiting on.
