Setting Eggs on the 27th...

Thanks WalnutHill for your input. I think I'll take your advise and leave well enough alone with the temp. I just got home from working all night so will have a bite to eat and then get the incubator locked down. I got a feeling the rest of the week is really going to drag waiting for Friday and the weekend to see whats going to happen. I have a homemade incubator I posted some pictures of it a page or two back. If you want to take a peak.

I just finished locking the incubator down. Now waiting for temperature & humidity to level out. I was surprised how much the air cells grew in just four days. I guess its back to the waiting game now. Hope to be hearing some positive news from you all soon.

Good luck, Dreamer! Hoping all goes well for you!

Right now it is 2:04pm and I'm giving the eggs another 30 min before lock down at 2:30-3pm since i'm not entirely sure what time I did it. I know it was before 4pm and after 2pm. lol. Any tips on what to do at lock down? I know to add more water to the tray and to take the eggs out of the turner. I'm just curious if people put in paper towels or something to catch the egg shell pieces so it's not a total mess.

EDIT: I'm editing to say....I'm officially in Lock-down!!!!

I'm getting SOOO anxious! Yesterday I could swear that I heard movement in the incubator, but each time I looked in, nothing had moved. I've gone crazy. Haha!

I had a temperature drop last night. I woke up and it was 96 degrees!

Ugh. I just want see movement or a pip or something!!!

How everyone's humidity doing? I got home from work this morning and the humidity held all night at 71% in the incubator. I'm happy with that, you hear a lot of people on here who have trouble keeping it up in the range it should be for lockdown. So far the homemade incubator has been behaving very good. Now if it will pull me over the finish line in the next couple of days I'll be delighted. I have one egg which appears to have a tiny pip starting. I don't know if there was a spot in the incubator which was slightly warmer, or if its just a early bloomer. Its a little early so I'm a little concerned about that, but will have to wait and see. No signs of anything else going on with the rest of the eggs. I'll try to keep everyone updating at least once a day.

good morning Is86 clam down I'm a new member to BYC. I've been farming for most of my years but this is my second year hatching eggs. I set eggs on the 27th also. I put them down to hatch yesterday remember if you pick them up again to place them back in the same as they were. I pick mine up to listen to them some times. or you can use la paper towel tube to listen without picking them up. we all go a little nuts in the spring yes even at my age. Two wks. ago I had 155 eggs in 3 incubators so I'm really nuts. My hatch rate is about 50% so far of the eggs that developed which means I'm down to about 90 eggs and have 22 chicks in my kitchen. I've been setting since early march .Every morning Irun out to my incubator to see if anything has hatched .I wanted to see how others were doing good luck hope they all hatch.

My humidity is too high in fact. WELL, I don't know if it's really TOO HIGH per say, but it's around 80% and I'd rather have it in the 70s. Oh well. I'm still checking the bator constantly for pips or moving! Congrats on the pip! :)
