Setting Eggs on the 27th...

WVduckchick
In the picture you see the red plastic bar that the thermometer is resting on. I have stick on velcro mounted to the bar ,which I have three temperature probes sandwiched between so they hung down to the level of the eggs. The probes are for the Spot Check, Temp. Controller, and Incu Therm.I just put my faith in the spot check and prayed.
I just woke up from sleeping all day as I have one more night to work this week. There are now thirteen little fluff balls running around the incubator. Its some hard to count them they won't stay still. So I counted the eggs remaining to verify my count. I have four eggs left, but only two with pip holes. I don't think two of them are going to hatch, but who knows. Has anyone else had any hatch yet?

It's personal preference when it comes to when to remove the chick. On my first hatch I removed the chick as soon as I found it and let it fluff up in the brooder. My second hatch I waited a bit then moved them. I could never wait til the chick was dried because they were either crying constantly or I didn't feel comfortable with them knocking the other eggs everywhere. All those chicks ended up perfectly fine. Other people prefer to wait til they are dried.
Congratulations on your new arrival. I'm going to leave mine in the incubator until tomorrow morning to give the two eggs with pip holes a chance to do something. I don't want to take a chance on loosing my humidity and shrink wrapping them.

Ahha! I see. Thank you!

And congratulations! Beginners luck or just plain great planning and execution! Awesome!! Post some baby pics when you get a chance!

I got up from my nap before going to work number fifteen has appeared. The last two eggs showed no signs of pipping or anything. So I pulled them and the extra sponge, and thermometer they had tipped over. I candled the two eggs and it looks like they have had it. I will crack them open tomorrow and see if I can figure out what happened. I turned the heat down to 99 and they all seem to be happy for the night. Tomorrow morning I'll make a run to TSC and get a bag of medicated chick starter and get them in the brooder. Once settled in I will get some pictures to post.
Its funny everyone says you only get 50 % with shipped eggs. So I ordered 20 from Meyer Hatchery and they sent 21. I figured about 10 would hatch if I was lucky and I would get maybe 3 or 4 Pullets and the rest Roosters. Know 15 chicks the chicken math isn't adding up already. Oh Well !

So i checked the eggs when i got home from my walk around 8:45pm and came home to 2 more starting to pip and this one with the hole. I can see the bird in side but the membrane is getting a yellowish color and afraid that he won't hatch... Any tips? help... anxious chick mother needs advice.

I got good news... and bad news...

Good News is that the egg had hatched. :)

Bad news... the second bird who was in the hole in the previous pictures has pasty butt and I saw some blood on the towel in the incubator!!!!

What do i do? Do i take the first one out? What do i do for the pasty butt?

No pips at the small end. the pips are by the bigger end of the egg. the eggs are just a little small. One of them is zipped.
