Setting Eggs on the 30th in Springfield, IL

I had a hard time with the darker eggs and seeing inside them.I usally could see nothing once they filled up the egg.
We are all nervous wreaks even after doing it fo awhile.

well it is 6am on day 21 and I am freaking out! We think we see eggs moving and I think I hear some stuff. The wife thinks I am crazy? I am sure that I am. Power was out from 2-4am today and my son is sleeping right next to the bator, so until we get up for church.....I am waiting!

good luck!!!!!

I could be crazy, but I think I see indivdual eggs slightly rocking back and forth and a slight tapping sound. It is Sunday afternoon and I have not done anything since Thursday night, other than fight with temps and use a straw and a dropper to add water. I might sleep in my son's room tonight?

I am 43 and I have a problem!

Wow, I haven't checked in awhile and missed your posts. Rocking sounds like a good sign! Let's hope there are some little chicks by morning!

I just candled and went into lock down. I had one egg that didn't develop and 7 (!?!) quitters. I could see something dark inside the quitters but they were clear at both ends. I took out the ones that seemed like they weren't nearly full enough to have a viable chick in them for day 18 almost 19.

Can anybody tell me why I might have so many quitters? Do you think that the temps are too low? I've had it set on 99.5, but the person I bought it from said she always had it at 100.3 for her most successful hatches. I figured for this first hatch I might as well try it on factory settings and adjust from there. But this seems like a lot of eggs to quit. I hope I didn't take them out too early. But it really didn't seem possible with so much air space in there that they could be viable chicks.

Advice would be great! My next hatch will be from shipped eggs and I want to adjust what I'm doing for the most successful hatch possible.

rsf31tmp... can't wait to see some pics of your chicks tomorrow!!!!

the wife just called me. She was in the basement, doing laundry and when she came up, there was massive cherping coming from the bator! She called me and I drove home as fast as I could. We now have our first break through and about ten different cherps coming out now! very fun!
