day 10 and I candled again-had to or something was going to blow! I pulled 8 totally clear ones and left the 3-4 clear FBCM's just in case:-( still parying Im making a mistake on 1 of those...all the others are still growing and I will not candle until lockdown now-8 more days..Man this hatch seems like its taking forever...

On a good note I sold 8 of my 19 chicks I hatched out 2 weeks ago:) and :-( at the same time...sad to see my babies go but the guy is such a chicken guy-a preppy chicken guy though-spoils them like they are children-they are even going to have a place in his house...LOL..love customers like that...I think the people down the road are in for some too...SO my first tester hatch may be gone already:) The DD gets to keep "pokey" the last chick born late a tiny split lav silkie-so cute but firey!!!

Hoping you get something from your FBCM's! They are so hard to see through I bet.

It's good you could sell the chicks! You get the fun of hatching and some extra money, too!

funny thing is that there is never a penny that is extra-all $ I get from selling eggs goes right back to the birds-their food and heating bill which is 150$ a month-Soo if I could make 200$ a month in Winter-just off their eggs and such they cover their expenses-this month I -for the first time-made that much to cover them and DH couldnt be prouder of me...So he has not said a word about me planning another batch of eggs for bating:)

Hopefully I'll have a few silkie babies on Feb 12th!!! This is my first attempt at incubating so we'll see!

Smart hubby! Sounds like a keeper, too.

Nice photo of the eggs, what are you hatching?

Those are Black Copper Marans, Blue Rocks, and some fertile eggs from the local co-op. Most of them in there are BCM's right now.
