Now you cant get any better than that to come home to-unless you have a dog that retrieves a corona for ya too? LOL congrats..Camt wait to see those BLRW's ...

No, but my dog would love to EAT these babies.. It's a real challenge to protect critters in my house ... but we've done it before.

I had to move the bator out of the bedroom last night .. DH needed to sleep. I *YAWN* didn't get much.

I have 17 babies and still more zipping. They are slowing down, though, so I think I have some quitters ..

There are a couple with REALLY BIG MOUTHS!

My marans eggs ALL pipped more than 24 hours after the others ... I don't know if that means anything, but they are also the last ones I have that are still hatching..

Maybe they just cook a little different, or longer, or have to be stronger to get through that ded-gummed hard shell ...

Yes-they do take a little longer from what Ive read and heard-thickness of shell and membrane? Patience is so hard at this stage especially after youve seen them pip the shell so long ago--

A couple of fuzzy butt pictures .. (I did the feather duster thing .. they love it..

Congrats everyone! pips and peeps and cute little chicks. Looks like everything is going well.

I started lockdown last night. I didn't candle but nothing smelled bad. Turner is off and dividers removed. I added water, the humidity was at 34%. It reached 44% by morning so I added a sponge. It was up to 62% within 40 min. I'll have my DH check it while I'm at work. I was told silkies hatch in 20 to 20.5 days, so I added them to the bator 14 hours after setting my BCM eggs, so I would have the same lockdown timing for both groups. Is that thinking correct? What should I expect by the end of day 19?

Hey Joanne,

Silkies may take a tiny bit less time to hatch than others-but I have not had that experience-in fact I have the opposite-they've hatched last...Ill let you know though because I have 4 of my silkie eggs in and today at 5pm is day 20!!! I hear peeping but saw nothing before I left for work...AT the end the very end of day 19-if all has gone well you should and "might" be able to hear a few "peeps"...dont be surprised if it doesnt happen until morning of day 20 though...
