setting eggs on Thurs. Hatch date Feb 4th-who's with me??

Put the lone chick in the brooder - the 13 week old chicks have accepted him (well ignore might be a better word) At first the week old chicks stretched out their heads and gave that cute sideways stare, but then the lone chick pecked the closest one. They decided he was OK and let him join in the chick pile. Now that lone chick is totally dry and fluffy I can see the barring spot, so he will definately be a rooster and blue barred. I just decided I will call him Ranger.

I have three out!!!! Geeze I felt like I would never get home tonight. I even skipped the grocery store. I snuck 2 out because they were really tossing around the little guy that just hatched a few minutes ago. I have a GL cochin in the bator drying off and 2 silkies in the brooder (actually they are silkies or silkie frizzle mixes). So here is a pic of the new silkie babies-

Too cute! Now I just have to wait for the other 2 to decide if they want to make an appearance!

sigh now I am freaking out because way more hatched than I intended (they told me 60% lol) so we are gonna have to make additions to our coop or give away straight run chicks and risk giving away all of our hens. They are mixed

black star
buff rock x Barred rock Roo
NH red

But they all look black, most have the barred rock white spot on the back of their head and the 3 buff rock hatches have yellow heads and black bodies.

I wish I could sex link the color.

11 out 2 pipped, 1 nothing

GOOD MORNING,
2 more BCMs are out of their shell and into the brooder this morning. And there's more chirping in the bator.
This was definitely a 22 day hatch. But I'm not complaining. I got a bunch of little procrastinators.

procrastinators??? I have 75% on day 24 still in eggs! I have 7 out of 25 in brooder thats it...Ill be bator diving by noon to check-I dont want to keep bator running if all babies have passes in the eggs..I have to set another batch today to stay on target so well see:-( ugh....

COngrats to everyone I love the pictures so sweet!!! Ill be posting pictures later today of my babies

HATCH S IS OVER WITH BAD RESULTS!!!

ok so today was day 24-Ive been doing this hatching thing for long enough that I know when things just arent right. So I opened bator and started opening the eggs=SO the final count

2 out of 6 White orps
1 out of 4 split black silkie
1 out of 6 jubilee orps--and shes iffy very weak:-(
1 out of 6 FBCM's
1 out of 3 white silkies
0 out of 2 mystery eggs
2 out of 3 Amaracaunas

I opened every egg that was left in bator and all died pipping--all membranes were broken through into air space and then nothing-they all passed:-( It was so sad to have to see all of that. I have a feeling that day 18 is what did it in. When the temps went down to 93-94 for 24 hours and I couldnt get it back up...
Im waiting until the white silkie fluffs in a little then cleaning bator for the next hatch getting set tonight...This was the hatch that I was afarid of 1 of each basically which doesnt do me any good whatsoever-So when they get old enough I will sell them off-except that FBCM if its a boy:) Or unless I get a pair of white orps and amaracaunas...pictures will have to come later DH took digitial to work with him:-(

Sorry to hear that sonew123. I guess on the bright side of things, it wasn't a 100% bust.

So far out of my 6 eggs that were due to hatch on day 21, which started last night, one hatched on day 20. The other three haven't done anything yet. The last two aren't due until tomorrow, so I'm not worried about those guys at the moment. Is there still a good chance that these three might hatch? I feel bad for the lone chick we have at the moment.
