Hey Sonew,

Seeing how you're pretty close to me. What temps and humidity are you going for...i've been reading your thread, and you were up to 74%, isn't that too high?

I was in the 30% and added water when it got in the 20s....but I don't think my hatch is making it... lockdown is Tuesday... I don't see anything moving..
Temps through the whole thing has been 100 point (different numbers or just plain 100 degrees.)

Melinda

I have a hovabator w/air...no turner.

The 74% was on day 19-20-ish teh first 18 days I had it between 30-45% temps were pretty stable the whole time. My goal temps were 101 and 40% humidity until day 18 then 60-70% humidty and same temp..I think I figured out what I did besides the 24 hours the temps wouldnt get beyond 94...I accidently covered one of the 2 airholes with a washcloth-I was trying to keep humidity in and never even thought that the fresh air wasnt getting in as much as it should have:-( See every hatch I find out new things to avoid or repeat... Its all a learning curve for me--- Ill make sure with this next hatch I dont cover that vent hole:-(

Congrats to everyone with chicks hatching! Mine did not make it either. It died sometime after lockdown

As soon as this hatch is over, I have nine more eggs waiting. We nicknamed our single chick Lone Ranger right now. It's in the big brooder all alone.... still waiting..........

Right now I have 37 eggs waiting to go in and 12 more coming MOnday I hope I didnt get them in the mail today:-(

My first hatch has finished. Incubated in a homeade styrafoam bator. Started with 12 white leghorn eggs I picked up locally.

1 clear egg thrown out day 10.
1 quitter thrown out day 18.
1st pip in pm of day 20.
1st hatch am of day 21.
Final hatch pm of day 22.
1 pipped & knocked out nickel sized hole & died.
1 hatched lived for 18 hours & died.
1 fully developed & never pipped or hatched.
7 healthy & living.

The one that hatched and died 18 hours later had a growth on its bottom side. Not surprised this one passed. The final chick that hatch seems to have had splayed legs, but is doing better now. All in all I am happy with 7 hatched of 12 eggs that I started with for my first hatch.

This is my first time hatching as well. The ones that hatched at the end of day 22, when did they pip? I wish today wasa workday so I could keep away from the bator every 10 minutes!!

Yeah! My hatch is over! I have 5 cute little fuzzies snoozing away in the brooder. Here are my stats-

How many eggs did you start with? 8
How many were shipped-yours? all mine
How many losses to blood rings? none
How many losses to clear eggs? 3
what day they started pipping? 20
How many days until the final baby was hatched? very early morning of day 22
How many made it to the end -pipped then passed? none
How many live chicks are present and accounted for? 5

So I have 4 silkie/slikie-frizzle mixes and 1 bantam GL cochin!
