setting eggs on Thurs. Hatch date Feb 4th-who's with me??

Hehe - that is what I named my singleton this hatch (well just Ranger) fortunately my other chicks are only 1 week older so they accepted him no problems after I made sure he could walk steadily.

Get your lone chick a feather duster or one of those small beanie baby type animals. They really crave something to cuddle under. I have thought about a mirror in the past too but haven't tried that yet.

I have a serama singleton who is now about 12 weeks old who thrived with her "lovey". She doesn't realize she is a chicken though and thinks of herself as more of a society finch

Other chickens scare her - especially the baby chicks.

This is my first time hatching as well. The ones that hatched at the end of day 22, when did they pip? I wish today wasa workday so I could keep away from the bator every 10 minutes!!

The last to hatch pipped in the pm of day 21. The second last to hatch was actually the third egg to pip. It was pipped for about 24 hours before it hatched! I thought it had passed earlier. However, this was also the same chick that had the growth on its bottom side and died 18 hours after hatching.

OMG my procrastinaters are such teasers. I was VERY HAPPY this morning 5 BCM and 1 silkie. Didn't see or hear anything happening all day. Then I did a check before going to bed and 3 more silkies have hatched, Amy come over and pick 2 out they're so cute.
pics tomorrow. They look like they'll be splashes.

Ok I'll be right over lol!

Its day 23, so far 5 BCMs and 5 silkies have hatched. I will leave the rest in the bator until tomorrow night. I'll give statistics then.
Then I will take the left over eggs to the barn and open them.
Amy, I'm going to my parents this afternoon. You could stop over tonight or wait until tomorrow. It's up to you.
Joanne

Man this little guy is taking forever!! He pipped at 4:00PM yesterday, now he is halfway zipped, but hasn't made any progress in the last two hours. He's moving good though, just not zippin.

aww Amy Im sorry about your last eggie..Ive been there...well it looks like someone will be getting silkies though huh? LOL..

Number two is out. It was stuck to the membrane. I moistened it with some water dropplets (very quickly) and that really seemed to help. It had started zipping around 6:00 AM this morning. around 12:00 I noticed that it seemed stuck in the same spot. The humidity has been steady around 60-65%, so I'm not sure what happened. I have a small length of tubing in a hole towards the bottom of the bator so I can put water in as it needs it.

So as of now, I have 4 more to go. For two of them, today is day 21, and for the other two it is day 22.
