Setting eggs on Thurs. Nov. 10th - Any buddies? Hatch due Dec. 1st

I had a broody a couple months ago, but I didn't get any eggs for her to hatch. I'm hoping she'll go broody again because I want to do the same thing you're doing. It sure would be easier than hatching them in the incubator!

and good luck with your broody!

I set 30 EE/Buff Orp crosses from my flock on the 10th at 3:18 (with the rising full moon) and candled last night. 4 had shells to dark to tell, one looks like there are bubbles inside (no idea what that means!) and the other 25 have blood vessels starting to form. So far so good!

I'm planning to candle on Day 10, if I can resist the urge. Mine are brown eggs. I'll weigh them also. Our humidity here has been averaging 70% and continues the same in the forecast. My bator has been right around 50% without adding water.

I'm so bad! I just candled mine and I can see the fertile ones. hehe There are some that doesn't look like anything yet but I usually put them at the end of the bator and candled it again in a couple of days.

Then I'm bad, too, because I candled mine today. Out of 41, I could see veins/growth in 19 of them. I'm sure some of the others are developing, I just wasn't absolutely certain yet.

I put 60 eggs in lockdown yesterday. I have hatch dates of Nov. 16th, 17th, 29th and Dec. 1st. No more going into the incubator until after the holidays.

Our broodies (started with one broody and the other hen thought it was a great idea so she took half of hen 1s eggs and went broody too... ) are sitting on eight silkie eggs, down from 13, they kicked three out of the nest and I accidentally dropped one (beyond any kind of wax or elmer glue repair, and feel SO bad

). I candled them lastnight and I could see great air spaces in five of them and I'm positive I could see 'something' (but not rings like bacteria) in all but one

Then I remember that we're moving to a new farm on Dec 1st and our hatch day is the 28th or 29th, this'll be a fun move!!!
