Hello Im new to hatching eggs can anyone tell me how long it takes once a chick pecks the first little hole in the egg to completely get through . Iv got 5 Impeyan Pheasant eggs and three pecked holes last night @ 10.00 this morning @ 8.41 there is no more progress , should I help them out or leave them alone as these are very exspensive eggs and I hate to loose any fully devoled chicks.....

I'm not sure about exotics, but it can take up to 24 hours from first pip for them to do anything - they're plumb tuckered after all that work! Also, is it 8:41 AM or PM that you posted your message? At any rate, keep a close watch on the eggs, particularly the sound of their peeping. If they stop moving or making any noise, then there may be a problem and they could require your help. For now just keep hovering over the eggs and keep the humidity up.
