Setting Eggs Sept. 24th-Oct. 4th-Last Hatch of the Year. Anyone care to join me?

Wilma has hatched 5 out of 7 eggs. 3 BO and 2 PR/BO. All seem active and healthy with no leg problems. One just hatched early afternoon, so I'm gonna let her keep the remaining 2 eggs just in case. I was able to transfer her by myself- a REAL victory for me. The weather is mild, so I think they will do fine. I have a cat carrier in the run for more privacy, but she seems to perfer being in a large tote turned on it's side filled with bedding. She hasn't been able to snack on grass in a while and it is probably nice to be nesting next to a salad bar. I might hook up a heat lamp tonight, what do you think?

Oh no.

Do you know how to help them? I don't but I'm sure someone will on here.

I am afraid to open the incubator. I don't want to shrink wrap the entire bunch. One pipped yesterday & I think it is still alive but no zip. I keep thinking what if it is shrink-wrapped already? Two others have pipped also but no other progress. It is making me nuts.

Can you hear anything?

Hi. What breed of chicks are these please? They look very similar to mine. I don't know what mine are so i am trying to find out what chicks i could have.
sorry, didn't see this. They are Buff Orpington and Production Red with a BO roo. I had to re-home my BO roo BIG Al the day before Wilma went broody, so these are all his chicks. Hope they have a better attitude than he did, Wilma going broody was a surprise- she is 7mnths old and this is our first year having chickens. Boy have we learned lots!

Just mutts. rir nhr bcm cuckoo maran, well everything in my sig. i dont have them separated into breeding pens as of yet. Trying to avoid the rubbery meat of the broilers as much as i can, tho i do have 15 of them too
How long do you wait to butcher? I know the meat is much much better than the broilers, "tastes like chicken"

but takes quite a while to meat up ')

Not today but I keep thinking that I see movement inside the tiny hole where it pipped.
It has been 24 hours with no progress. I am afraid it's stuck and needs help but if it's just not ready I could hurt that chick as well as all the others.

If it was me, I would pick the egg up and try to peel back just a tiny bit to see. When you put it back add very warm water to bator. I have only read about this on a website about help outs. If it has been that long I would check. But that is just me. If it hadnt pipped I would leave it alone.
