Setting Eggs Sept. 24th-Oct. 4th-Last Hatch of the Year. Anyone care to join me?

Question: If you are hatching multiple breeds, how do you keep the chickens straight after they hatch? Do you use leg bands? And if so, what type and size? This will be my first time with multiple breeds in the incubator.

Started out with 18 of our own eggs, Buff Orpington over Red Sex Links. First candle pulled one porous shell, 2nd candle pulled 3 quitters, for a total of 14 going to lockdown.
Beginning of day 21 late last night, had our first pip. By this morning had 4 pips. The first complete hatch (not the first pipped) just now.

Awwww!!! so cute!!!!

Incubator warehouse has some egg shaped therometers, pretty neat, they have digital readouts. Can use them upright on the turners like eggs or lay them down when the eggs go to lockdown.

hovabator with fan filled up water wells took out turner so im sure lost heat there should I just give time to stabilize how long can it be at 96.5. I do have another bator but it doesnt have a fan can I swith tops if this one doesnt regulate? thanks

Becareful trusting your gauges...if you're using a Hovabator then I would trust that more than the gauges...

I followed gauges once and drowned almost all the chicks as they were off and not correct...now I don't use any at all...my Hovabator has perfect temp and I trust the water troughs to establish the correct humidity....

Always check, double check your gauges and always use two....that's my advice...or trust your bator and don't use any at all....lol

Chick number three judged hatched...another paint....yay!
