Setting Eggs Sept. 24th-Oct. 4th-Last Hatch of the Year. Anyone care to join me?

Question: If you are hatching multiple breeds, how do you keep the chickens straight after they hatch? Do you use leg bands? And if so, what type and size? This will be my first time with multiple breeds in the incubator.
When I hatch multiple breeds together I make sure that the chicks are different in color and/or markings so I don't get them confused. Do a google search on what the chicks look like and you should have no problem telling them apart. I believe the Cuckoo mAran chicks have white on the tips of their wings.

Started out with 18 of our own eggs, Buff Orpington over Red Sex Links. First candle pulled one porous shell, 2nd candle pulled 3 quitters, for a total of 14 going to lockdown.
Beginning of day 21 late last night, had our first pip. By this morning had 4 pips. The first complete hatch (not the first pipped) just now.

Look how dark

! Is there a sleep-deprived icon;)
Congrats!!!! Can't wait to see them all fluffed up.

Becareful trusting your gauges...if you're using a Hovabator then I would trust that more than the gauges...
I followed gauges once and drowned almost all the chicks as they were off and not correct...now I don't use any at all...my Hovabator has perfect temp and I trust the water troughs to establish the correct humidity....
Always check, double check your gauges and always use two....that's my advice...or trust your bator and don't use any at all....lol
Chick number three judged hatched...another paint....yay!
mine doesnt have the built on gauges. have a temperature gauge on floor nrext to eggs and another digital one measures humidity and temp at level of eggs up to 98.0 yeah wrapped towels around incubator seems to be helping thanks for help

Congrats on the hatches! They're all adorable, I can't wait to see more pictures!
Just three more days for ours....I keep going in and checking on the hen, just in case! Now I wish I'd set the eggs just a few days earlier so I could have some chicks right now xD

hovabator with fan filled up water wells took out turner so im sure lost heat there should I just give time to stabilize how long can it be at 96.5. I do have another bator but it doesnt have a fan can I swith tops if this one doesnt regulate? thanks

The only time I've had any temp issues with my hovabator, doing a quick factory reset always seem to do the trick! If you don't know how, you do this:

Turn off all switches then turn on 2, 4, 6, 8. When it flashes, turn off all switches and turn
on 4.

If you already know how to do this or your temp is good then just disregard

Do you have the plugs closed or open? 98 is good. Maybe just needed to readjust after all the commotion this afternoon.
