Setting eggs today...20th May...anyone else?

Chick #1, after flopping around the incubator a few laps, got super close to the point of proper chick walking, but then was so tired, that she is now out cold. That was a super amount of work for a new chick.

So, I keep thinking that maybe, perhaps, it could be, that two of the eggs are making tiny itsy bitsy little movements. But I just am not sure...and there are no pips.

If I don't get a move on, I will get no work done at all today. How do the rest of you'll manage to WALK AWAY for the incubator, and the STAY AWAY from the incubator. I NEED A TEN STEP PROGRAM (ten steps away, then ten steps back

)
I'm lucky enough to work from home. I pull up a chair next to the counter and take a break from typing every few minutes to sneak a peek at them. I don't have a problem if it doesn't harm my work life. :p

two more pips! Two more pips!

And one of the pips is in my favorite egg(of the eight in the incubator)!! It is a pretty dark color and covered in lovely darker spots! (Yes, yes, I know that with Marans we are aiming for a uniform dark color, but I just REALLY love the spots!). The other pip is in a very nicely even brown, not as dark as my favorite, but a good even wash of color.

YEAH! I am gonna get more than one chick!!

My favorite egg is alive!!!

Our little scooter survived the night and day.

I put her in the cup again for the day and have just now got home from work to take her out. She is still chirpy and attempting to eat. I'm noticing her neck is floppy as well though. When I took her out she responded by flopping about like a fish outta water with her legs now straight out behind her rather than tucked up under her.

About an hour later now, and she is still attempting to stand but is more steady, but unfortunately has gone back to using her hocks. I took her shoes off and her toes have receded as well. Will build new ones and try again, just wanted to give her a rest from it all. She is chirping like crazy.

I'm wondering if she had some nerve damage when hatching. Hang in there though, keep trying. I know it feels like results should be quick and a day seems to last forever, but whatever happens you'll know you tried...
Definitely shoes need to stay on for 3+ days. They can stay on. She'll need rests from the cup therapy, but shoes and leg braces can stay on without it distressing her.
I know I'm advocating all this, but if you read the thread when I did it all you'll know the outcome wasn't good. Can but try though. And the fact she's eating is a good sign that she still has fighting spirit.

Alaskan: any news?
Is it ice age 3 where Sid gets really attached to the 3 eggs before they hatch and turn out to be dinosaurs? Your 'favourite egg' comment reminded me of that...lol.

No, that would be me. :p I've already picked out names, building a lovely pond box, bought duckling diapers, the works, and it hasn't even pipped yet!

. You'll be a great duckling mum...
What names did you pick?

Wanna name my chicks? I haven't named them yet as I struggle to tell the buffies apart, but the the BRs are all different...
