Setting eggs today 5/31/11

Checked this morning and have three fuzz butts one cochin cross and two buff orpingtons one other egg has pipped and the others still look fine no explosions day 21 starts today at 4 so we will have to wait and see what happens. I think they started incubating in the carten before I put them in due to the higher temps of summer. Keep your fingers crossed for the other 6 I will post pictures when I am home

And mom's pretty too! Hope to see more!

I'll have to go out and get more photos. This one is pretty blurry but it is pretty cute hiding next to the eggs. Chick #2

So you see how there is a chick and 6 eggs in this photo. There was another black chick behind mama. Anywho...so that would have been 8 eggs. Why do I only have 5 chicks and one egg left? Did she eat the other two when I wasn't looking?

I checked on temp and humidity awhile ago, and saw one egg with some wet spots on it about the size of my pinky nail. I know after lockdown you shouldn't open it, but I could smell it with the thing shut, so I grabbed it out. I candled it, it looked like a full egg, but the air cell had all but disappeared, and the egg stunk, so I tossed it. No pips yet. Tomorrow is day 21.

5 hatched so far out of the 9 that made it to lockdown 4 to go although none have pipped or are chirping yet. Keep your fingers crosses.

How is everyone else doing with their babies?

Finally the pictures

One of the barn mix babies at least 1/2 cochin
