Sounds like a great hatch!
My last three eggs did not pip so I took them out and candled them.
The two silkie eggs had definitely quite since lockdown. I didn't bother cracking them open because I could see a dark mass at the bottom of both eggs.
The cuckcoo maran egg died from I believe not being dried down enough. I was worried about how little the air cell was at lockdown.
But I ended up with 7 nice chicks so I'm happy and I just set 7 silkies eggs today from Jen of Sassy Silkies.

Hatched total of 6 chicks on day 21 and 22!!! one dies after pipping. I didn't want to interfere based on what other people's recommendations. I probably will interfere next time if pass 24 hrs though. Still there are 3 eggs left, today is day 23. No chirping/ movement. Will open them later today just to see, dont have high hope though. Temperature has been down to 96-97. I am using a homemade bator, and couldnt open the lid to adjust the temp due to other chicks were hatching. Definitely will redesign the bator after this hatch. Learned tons from this 1st time hatching. It's a miracle that the chicks hatch at all from all of my mistakes.

Sounds like you did really good Andy

You learn with each batch you set.
The helping issue can drive one crazy.
I started to help one pipper at the "24 hours after pip" mark and saw a little blood so I stopped and put him back in.
He ended up hatching on his own 12 hours later. So, it goes to show that some pip well before they are ready to zip.

final count:

4 Black Copper Marans
3 Salmon Faverolles
3 Black Silkies
2 Partridge Silkies.

12 out of 17.

I wish I had never open the bator to take the "soccer players" who were using the silkie eggs as balls, but the first 4 chicks were manic! While the bator went back to temp and humdity, the change effected the membrane of the remaining eggs and I feared sealed some like cling free wrap. I did rescue a few birds. Misting them helped, but next time I'll use the Hovabator as the hatchery, plenty of room.

And the newest hatch began right after cleanup with 9 silkie eggs. And the neighbpr is dropping off a bunch of dorking eggs this week.

Here are pics of my babies!!! I have one more still pipping. If it makes it on out I will have 18. I put the images in thumbnails so I wouldn't take up so much space. I went a little picture crazy..

OK... It's my first time incubating and hatching as well as first time for everything else. Today is my day 20 for my 14 Wheaton Marans Eggs from Wheaties and I had to run on here and announce that I have found 6 eggs pipped and I am so excited to see that there is movement and life. I didnt candle or handle the eggs at all so the nervousness of not knowing if I was doing ANYTHING right and if any at all were alive was killing me. I can't believe just how excited I am. i feel like im skipping around my house today LOL... I bet you all are laughing at me. I just had to get on to share. Pictures will be available as soon as I have more. YAY
