How do you successfully stagger a hatch? If some go into lockdown, you then suject the eggs that aren't quite there yet to really high humidity levels. Doesn't that drown the chicks? I imagine one day either way is workable, but how would you deal with more?

That was my concern. I am hoping that one day difference isn't going to be that bad since they will be so close to hatching anyway. We will definitely see though.

my last hatch was staggered but I have 2 incubators. so the first one went to lock down and hatched. then the others were about every 3 days apart so i kept the first incubator as a hatcher. then added the eggs that needed to go into lock down into it. you need to keep track of the hatch dates. but it works great that way.

I am going to have a staggered hatch this time too because my shipped eggs haven't gotten here yet. So we can both pace and worry together hehe.

This time around is already so much less stressful. I'm not using the same tank I was the first time. I'm using the hatcher (the 20 gal tank) as the incubator, which holds temps pretty steady. I haven't been getting up during the night to check temps and it's been doing fine. This will be day 3 for the 12 I have already set, and I'm picking up a few other today to put in there. I have a tiny hole in the top of the hatcher that I have been poking a stick into to "turn" the eggs (I have them in a carton with a pvc pipe underneath, and they rotate side to side), so I should still be able to keep rotating the position of the eggs I set today while the other ones are hatching. Good luck to all of us!

LilyD, just wait late as you can into the day to put them in lockdown if it's only one or two days difference.

J, they've internally pipped and are wiggling! Not even technically day 19 till 11am!

Definitely sounds like it's going better this time around. My fingers are crossed for you.

That's what I was going to try to do just hoping no one started cooking while they were waiting to go into the incubator that could make things a little bit crazy.

My eggs arrived. They were so well packed it was amazing all were safe and whole and none were broken or cracked. Now they are resting and they will go in tonight before bed.
