Setting eggs tomorrow, anyone want to join?

I'm doing no air dry incubator method with an egg turner in mine this time. Temp is a steady 100 degress

I have mine is egg cartons that are cut down, the eggs are fat end up but at an angle and I will hand turn them 3x a day. I am constantly checking the temp in the bator.

I have a thermal air, I think that means still air, and an egg turner. Getting my temp regulated now. I just lost a full hatch due to my incubator being in a cold area, my basement, which is 52 degrees. It couldnt keep a constant temp and it dropped to 90 and it took me 3 days to get it back up. I candled and saw no movement, finally removed the eggs(day24) they were all dead

. been holding a steady 99.7 for almost an hr now. I will add my eggs later this evening after my last egg pick up. What is everyone hatching?

I am hatching 5 different kinds:

1 blue ameraucana, 1 leghorn, 1 penedesenca, 5 d'uccle, and 8 black austrolorp.

I really know nothing about breeds yet, but the woman who I bought my eggs from gave me a variety and told me what they were. I'm really hoping the blue ameraucana hatches.

I have eggs from my snowy call ducks and from my barnyard mix of easter egger hens with a Yokohama/Sumatra cross roo... this will be my fist time hatching from my own stock. Last time i tried hatching during the winter with a dozen silver sussex eggs but lost them all because of a super cold snap. So doing lot more practice before purchasing again.

I am hatching 9. 3 are from my white crested Polish, 3 are from my Buff Araucana, and the other 3 are buff orpingtons. But I have 3 roos, one RIR and 2 beautiful colored Araucanas. So I have no idea who fertilized what egg. My RIR is head roo, but the "boys" sneak in from time to time. I have only 1 Araucana and 1 Polish so I hope those eggs hatch more than any! It's fun getting green eggs!

Does this mean I am saying the breed wrong? I keep thinking its "Ameraucana". Is that not right?

Ameraucanas are similar to Araucana chickens because both have pea combs and lay blue shelled eggs, but they are completely different breeds. Ameraucana traits include full tails, muffs, beards, and slate or black legs depending on the variety. Bantam cocks weigh 30 ounces and bantam hens weigh 26 ounces while large fowl cocks weigh 6½ pounds and large fowl hens weigh 5½ pounds. Ameraucanas are typiclly well mannered, also making good pets for children. My boys have green legs while my hen has yellow legs. Its all very confusing to me...lol this is a good link also.

So no you were not saying it incorrectly!

I set the night of the 10th, so I'm just a little ahead of you, but would be glad to join in on the progress! It's my first hatch of the year, and the eggs are from my little flock. The rooster is getting older so there's no guarantee that they will be fertile but who knows.. I figure it's worth a shot!

My roo is a mutt, he's big, black, single comb, five toes and hairy feet. I hatched him out of my neighbor's eggs about 7 years ago, out of a brown egg.
My hens are mostly EEs, I've got 3 blue eggs, 1 green egg, and 1 pink egg from them. I have one OE pullet that started laying in November, so I've got one olive egg from her. and I've got one Light Brahma egg.

So my count is 7, and today is day 2 for me. :)

Your flock sounds like mine....lol I hatched my flock last yr in June, from a borrowed incubator. This year I decided to buy one myself. I had a hard time getting the temp to regulate. Finally decided the room was way too cool. So now the incubator is right in the office beside my computer. Watching the temp like a hawk!
