Setting eggs tomorrow, anyone want to join?

I should have weighed my eggs, but since I am watching the air cells I didn't. I suppose I could weigh them when I do my final turn of the day around 10pm. I have one more turn before that. I will be estatic if I see any veining in the next few days!

I cracked an olive egger egg that I collected today to see if the fertility was there, and sure enough! I am super excited about this. :)

I do have a quick question, though, my olive eggs have EXTREMELY thick membranes, I'm wondering if that will cause issues with hatching? Just out of curiosity.

I'm relatively patient so far with this hatch. I have had the urge to candle but I know I probably won't see anything quite yet. I'm going to try to wait to candle for the first time on day 7, which, for me is this Sunday. Good thing I have to house-sit for a friend until then!

My 1st hatch I had 4 green(olive) eggs. I didnt see any issues. But I would make sure you have good humidity during hatching! My EE who lays green eggs always has a hard shell and thick membrane. She hatched from the same kind of egg. I had issues with a white and brown egg....lol

I'll be setting 4 goose eggs and some turkey eggs today...the turkey eggs are unknowns..I don't know if they are fertile nor do I know which hen laid them, narragansett or holland white, I like mysteries and do little other than candling. I'll candle next week and see what gives. If they are feritle, it'll be a cross with my Bourban Red tom. Can't have enough turkey meat.

The goose eggs are for a from a friend since I have the bators and they don't.

Hatching continues, slowly, in the home made incubator.
All in all, a good start this year, got lots of peepers around.

We just named our eggs...they better hatch! LOL...

Charlie Brown, Peppermint Patty, Pig Pen, Lincoln, Washington, Adams, Jackson, Reagan, Daryl, Lori, Carl, Rick, Glenn, Shane, The Governor, & Michonne

Twice since setting my eggs yesterday morning the temp has spiked in the bator, both times to about 110degrees. Luckily I was home and was able to catch it and readjust...I'm hoping that doesn't hurt my babies?!?!

Apparently anything over 103 for more than 15 minutes can hurt your babies - or so I've read. Since you readjusted right away all you can do is cross your fingers and candle in a few days to make sure they're still okay...:(
