yeah, they have imaginations which are fun and simple.
Might have been fun to draw faces on the eggs and name them for an Easter hatch day

Our hatch day will be the day after Easter :/

I know...I'll get there...It's just this is my first try and I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my animals...

Me too...If I end up with infertile eggs this round I will be in contact with happyhensny (my egg lady) and get more. I have the incubator for 6 weeks, so whatever I can try to hatch in 6 weeks, I will.

I will be watching. I set my first in a used incubator (previous owner upgraded to massive incubator) on the night of the 12th.. I put 23 eggs. Mixed brown layers and EEs and one silkie egg. I used all pristinely clean eggs from one day of laying, I usually sell the eggs. I have 2 light brahma roosters, 2 Buff Orp Roosters and 2 Buckey Roosters over a mix of hens. I checked the temp, the thermometer reads 100 at the top of the eggs, and a little lower at the bottom of the incubator, so I think I am good. I am so excited. I cannot wait to candle. I will be watching, as you guys should hatch a day or two before me.

This whole temp thing really confuses me. I have a digital on top of eggs, with eggs in a turner, then a digital on rack level with bottom of eggs. Top temp runs 101, getting as high as 102 and at bottom of egg running a steady 99. So I guess I am good. Humidity is running around 34%. I lost a very old hen last night. She was given to me a couple years ago when I first got chicks. She didnt lay anymore and was blind in one eye. But she was the best momma ever. She would take any chick, any age, anytime. When you put those babies with her she would just melt and purr. At bedtime she would be covered head to toe with babies snuggling her, and she would purr and sing them to sleep. Rest in peace old girl!

Your temp sounds fine. Usually slightly lower is better than higher at any rate.
I'm sorry for your loss, your chicken sounds like she was one of a kind

I'm so sorry to hear that. She sounds like a very sweet little bird. Isn't it nice to have those kinds of animals in our life, even if it's just for a little bit? Rest in peace sweety!

Ok. I have a question. All of my eggs have lost 2 grams, except 2 of the smaller eggs, and they only lost 1 gram...what am I looking for in terms of weight loss? I have never done this before, and I just want to know if it is working. So in 3 days I've lost 2 grams from most eggs...What does that mean.
My temp is 100 and doesn't waver a bit...but I don't know what my humidity is. I still haven't gotten a hygrometer. I did add a tiny bit of water when I first set the eggs. Haven't added any since though. But they are losing weight, so I guess that is good. But is it too much? Oh the wondering?!

I have no idea, as I have never weighed mine. My 1st hatch which was last year went perfect 11 out of 12 hatched. But I really knew nothing then. It seems like the more I learn the more stressed I am and the worse my hatch goes....lol

Awww, I'm sorry about your hen! (((hugs)))

My temps are reading pretty much the same, I have a bulb thermometer laying over the top of the eggs and it reads between 100-102 degrees and my digital which is on the wire base reads 99 degrees. The temp that really matters is the one on the top of the egg, especially in a still air incubator like the one I am using. I had been adding a little water here and there, trying to get my humidity up to 30% but it's not really budging. I'm doing the dry hatch, so I'm not sure how high I should go or how much water to add.
