Setting eggs tomorrow, anyone want to join?

it was hard for me to tell until this morning whether this egg was toast or not. But I'm thinking that is a very obvious blood ring. WDYT? I left it in but think I should take it out, just need someone else to agree with me. I'm a bit sad as it was either from a beautiful white cochin or a wyandotte, which I bought off a friend.

I'd give it a few more days. If it gets better, leave it, if it gets worse, toss it. I am only tossing mine IF they start to smell rotten. I have so many that are hard to see I am just waiting it out.

For all of you who do not have an automatic egg turner, how many times a day do you turn your eggs? I only have 3 eggs and am turning them every 3-4 hours. I even get up in the middle of the night to turn them. Now that we are on day 7/8 can my eggs go a little longer between turning them?

I only turn mine 3x a day...one in the morning, once mid day (anywhere between 12pm and 5pm) and again around 9pm.

I got too curious and opened up one that looked clear, and it was in fact clear...no smell, just liquidy

with my other incubator I would turn mine about 3 or 4 times a day until day 18. I am using a friends incubator right now, the Brinsea 40DX with the auto turner and wow, it sure seems to keep them moving much more. I really notice a difference in the eggs when I candle them. With a lot of my eggs that I hand turned by hand I found that a lot ended up pipping the egg in the wrong place. I guess we'll see when it comes time for hatching if the auto turner makes a difference in that.

Can you describe the difference you see when candling?

Bought an LED flashlight, but accidentally got a black light. Brought all three white eggs inside to candle, and dropped one. It's a good thing broodies don't know how to count
