setting eggs tonight!! anyone else?

I got a pair of tweezers and chipped away the shell a little bit at a time until it was almost fully zipped! This guy did not want to hatch. It took a couple hours of "Here hatch." "No" "Fine, how about now?" "No." before he finally decided I had done enough.

yea i candled last night and it looks like they have gotten bigger and filled the eggs almost (at least i hope its the chicks that filled the eggs and not bacteria growing around dead chicks)

Woohooo!! I hope they start hatching soon!. :)

I know this is graphic, but is he ok? This doesn't look normal...

I had a chick hatch recently with this issue and after leaving it for one day to see if it would re-absorb I ended up culling it with the baking soda technique! I am so sorry for both of you

Baking Soda and vinegar. You take a large container with a lid and put some baking soda in the bottom then put another container inside that fits then put the chick in the smaller container. Add the vinegar to the baking soda then put the lid on the large container. The chick literaly passed in just a few seconds but you don't want your large container to be too large and I used about 1/8 cup of baking soda to 1/2 cup of the vinegar

Was he just not getting better? I'm gonna put him in a separate brooder and see what happens. I really don't want to cull him but I won't let him suffer if I can help it. Does the baking soda method hurt them? Are they awake for very long? I'm so afraid of putting him in pain for his last moments.
