setting eggs tonight!! anyone else?

I did a float test last spring and one sunk, I opened it & it had a live chick in it, I was SO sad. I wouldn't crack anything open until day 23 (unless it stinks), just to be safe.

My middle of the night check had 2 chicks in the bator & this morning there are 5! Several zips & pips & wobbling eggs with no cracks (I worry about these the most!).

So cute

I have 4 healthy chicks so far, 2 penedesenca/minorca crosses, 1 pene/partridge rock cross and 1 black penedesenca.
3 dead chicks hatched almost 4 days early which I think was because my surrogate mother didn't prepare a good nest under her turkey and they got smashed.
I'm sure more are on their way.

Hdowden, never give up. Good luck.

Oh, I'll definitely leave them in the incubator until Day 24 or 25. Sorry that happened with your sinker, milakegrl.

hdowden,
Looks like your eggs & mine are bringing up the rear in this Feb. 11 hatch.
My daughter is on a retreat this weekend and she was telling our eggs not to hatch until she gets home tomorrow night. I wonder if they are listening to her?!!

I keep having second thoughts about going to pick up a couple more chicks today....

LaynaDon- wow, that's a great hatch!

How much 'helping' did you have to do with the one chick. Give details please...helps me feel prepared in case I need to help, also.

21 chicks and counting. I think we will name them all Duggar. =P

The one I helped hatched out!! :D

One of my chicks (I'm up to 14 now

with one more zipped & pushing & 4 pips) has a really big head & it's neck looks sort of swollen. Anybody have this happening in their incubator?? I'm really hoping its just from getting out of the egg.

I'm posting the "helping" link again. The hardest part for me was doing only a little at a time & taking, like, 10-15 minute breaks in between.
