setting eggs tonight!! anyone else?

If you have say, a 2 weeks old chick, and she's growing say, a comb already, does that mean she's a he?
Strictly hypothetical, seeing as I have no boys. ;)

I am putting 15 eggs in my incubator today, I have some eggs in a small incubator, that I need to candle for fertility, does anyone know a simple way too candle eggs?

I just use a small flashlight. At first I would put the egg, skinny end down, in a toilet paper tube and shine the flashlight into the other end of the tube. Now I just put the flashlight directly on the fat end of the egg. It works better that way. Make sure you are in a dark room. The darker the better. And for the flashlight, the brighter the better. :) Hope that helps.

So cute!! Usually, if the comb starts to pink up early, then it's a boy. If it stays more like a yellow orange, then it's a girl. At this point, size doesn't matter....
