Setting eggs tonight! Anyone want to join me?

tmfineg, How are you making out? Did you float test?

Jaboo! Those blues are AMAZING!

Stan, Something is oh, so familiar in those little chickies faces, Orps per chance?

I floated one 2 days ago and it sank. I put it back in the bater and it moved 30 min later, go figure. I don't think I had the water at 100 degrees.

I candled the same one this morning and it was moving. Not much movement at all in the bater since then. I think my temp was not accurate, that it was too low.

Could they be alive and now too weak to hatch? tomorrow is day 25...so scary.

Our final tally looks to be 17 of 22!!! One egg left in the bator, how long until you can assume that it will not hatch???

I gave mine a full day after the others hatched. I broke the egg and it was fully developed, but not alive.

Candled it this evening, it had no movement... Opened it up, and it had been mostly developed, but was not alive either. Oh well! Super excited that we did as well as we did for our first hatch!!!

I did not see any movement so I opened the last 2. Neither was fully developed. One was turned sideways so it would not have piped in the right place. My temp must have been too low. I have ordered more eggs and will do it again.

Congrats to everyone, all chicks are too cute!!

I've got a bunch of Bev Davis Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Marans due to hatch on the 18th(giving them 2-3 days extra), brazilian aseel crosses, reza aseels, cochin bantams, red shouldered yokohamas, but my most awaited hatch is that of the 36 Trader Joe's eggs lol!!! The TJ's eggs are going on their fourth day and today 2 outta 3 had developed veins. The eggs were 4 days new when I bought them so it looks promising. I'm running a Dickey brand incubator if anyone is interested to know, temps are 99.6-100 & humidity is between 38-42%...I add about 6-8oz of water every 36-40 hours. Heres my idea for those eggs that don't make it, I blow them out/crack the top, empty them, let them cure, decorate them if you'd like (i go green/organic ), fill them with confetti and sell/use them during easter. Sure takes away the blues about eggs that didn't hatch. Even when I expect the best, I'm always prepare for the worst.
