Setting my eggs tonight (April 10) Any tips?

I'm giving up and going to bed. I just don't have a good feeling about the remaining four. I know, I know, today (until tomorrow at 2pm) is day 21 if you want to be technical.

Sweet dreams folks.

:clap Last night when I checked I think we had 10 chicks under the broody and another one coming out of the egg. She has 17 eggs under her so a few more to go. We are all really excited here. Haven't check her yet this morning but we will head out soon. Can't stand the kids bugging me anymore!

is your humidity too high?

I have found that not enough water loss during incubation can cause problems like this. I don't put any water in until a little the last 3 days. I hope it is just a one time thing but if more of them come out like that I would say they are too wet

So what do I do?

I don't think there is anything you can do. You can post in the emergency section? sorry I couldn't be more help but you may just have to wait and see...

AHHHHH

We went out to peek on the chicks and when we moved the front door thing the hen came shooting out with a chick attached to her under belly. Poor little thing is alive but seems to have some yolk attached.

Mom had a HUGE poop a quick drink of water so we quickly moved everyone to the floor cage so she could nest there without worry of the tiny babies from friday starving. I didn't even think to count how many chicks we have or how many eggs are left. Just panicked!! So little one is tucked under her with the rest of the eggs and the gang. Saying a prayer it is OK.

It is one of the maran chicks too. So far of the 5 eggs from our own hens, 3 have hatched!

Hopefully the other 2 will still hatch. We'll see if she keeps sitting on them. We don't have an incubator so have no choice. Wish us luck!
