As of now, my eggs are offically 1 day old.

So for so good, they don't seem to be cooked after the temp spike.
Just turned them....

When do you guys think I can start candling?

I usually candle day 7 or so, day 12 or so, and day 17 or 18 right before they go on lockdown. I just mark the ones I am not sure about with a ?, and check mainly those when candling.

Good afternoon!!!

Just turned my eggs for the second time today.... they are doing good.
Temp is somewhere between 99-101... have two thermometers in the 'bator and they are both different, so I'm going to go with it being at 100.

Keeping my fingers crossed that your temp spike will be insignificant. I have 4 thermometers and three hygrometers, so much for being paranoid

. Temps are wonderfully steady in my hovabator 1588. I'm still toying around with humidity, but it's between 40-45%. When do you think you'll start to candle? I, also have some ameraucana eggs coming this week to add to the bator, and a second bator to hatch in. Clare

I think I will candle around five days to see if they all made it through the spike, then 2 weeks and the day of lockdown.

Sweet! how many ameracauna eggs are you getting?

I have two thermometers, two hygrometers. I won't candle for another 4 days probably. I'm only on day 4. I try to open the incubator as little as possible. I'm using a hovabator too.

A dozen Ameraucana eggs for now, but I think this hatching stuff is highly addictive!
