Setting my eggs tonight (April 10) Any tips?

Jumping in here thanks to a link from someone else. I have 39 in the bater...EEs and RIRs that my 10 yr old bred. I candled Saturday and although its not the easiest thing to see in green and brown eggs the eggs looked like they were filling up. I only saw 1 blood ring in the 12 I candled. Lock down is Sunday! Whoo Hoo!

Wishing ya good hatching vibes. I have 13 eggs in. 8 of our silkie eggs, and 4 of our EE eggs. Only one egg looks like it might be bad, but hard to tell because it's blue.

Doing well! Only one blue egg didnt develop. The silkie eggs are doing really well. I can see somewhat better in the blue eggs. I can see veins, but not much else. That happened last time though. They developed fine, but didn't hatch at lockdown. So we shall see. It was only the blue eggs that did this. Lockdown is sunday night, Monday morning.

Well Our hen is still fluffy and happy but I haven't worked the guts up to candle them. lol. I really don't want to both Scrunchie. She is such a good momma. She actually purrs when she is on the eggs. She'll let us look and stuff but I think we will just leave her alone. We put ours under the evening of April 9th so a week and a half left!! Yippee!!

Good morning everyone

Everything progressing smoothly:fl . Hubby and I went and picked up more lumber for the new coop last night. Somehow it's gone from 8x8 to 16x8 with 3 or 4 runs. Thinking of putting linoleum on the floor for easy clean up.

I candled my ameraucana eggs last night, and either they are much harder to see through than the brown cochin eggs, or I have a bunch of duds...The three lightest blue eggs are developing for the rest I wouldn't hazard I guess yet.

More eggs coming this week. Cochin and Ameraucana.

Better get to work on the coop! Hubby is panicking, forseeing chickins in the house.

Dak- We put commercial grade linoleum on the floor of our coop and it has worked out great. It cleans really easily. Good luck with the construction:)

I sure wish I woulda thought of linoleum!

Is that the fiberglass backed stuff not the felt backed?

I really don't know what it's backed with. We used the peel and stick kind, but I think (edit) they sell the same thing in a sheet. It's just called commercial grade and it's a lot heavier than normal linoleum, and not very pliable. It has worked great for us. Let me know how it goes.
