I had a fox get two of my three laying duck hens almost two weeks ago. With it being so cold here I wasn’t thinking that my drake was breeding my girls then even though I saw lots of flirting going on. Well I posted some pictures of the eggs last night and somehow it looks like he might have been breeding them. So I have pulled out 10-12 of my eggs from the refrigerator to put in my incubator. My question is how long should I let them set out before putting them in and should I set the humidity at anything different this time around.

attached are the pictures of the opened duck eggs I showed before if you were curious

Well there's no harm in trying! I haven't incubated refrigerator eggs before but I know people have been successful at it. I would allow the eggs to come to room temperature before putting them into the incubator but I don't "think" they're treated differently otherwise.

I've hatched fridge eggs on several occasions. I have about a 50% hatch rate with them.

My February hatch I had 2 dozen eggs I bought as table eggs. They were refrigerated but I don't know how long. I'd guess between 2-7 days. 14 made it to lockdown. 12 chicks hatched. This is inline with the occasional fridge egg or two I've added to my hatches over the years. About half will hatch.

I don't do anything special one they're up to temp ( about half a day on the counter). Incubate just like regular eggs. If your eggs are fertile you have a decent chance at hatching them out.

These chicks are from fridge eggs. So cute!

I did a first candle on these eggs not expecting any out of them. I set them Monday night.i was actually surprised to see growth happening in 10 of the 12 eggs. Two most certainly were clears so I removed them earlier than I normally would have if these had been normal eggs.

i was shocked to see at least 4 strong heartbeats in the eggs, with growing happening in the others. Only time will tell if they will be strong enough to make it to hatch as two looked already like they could be quitters but I left them in because I can’t really tell this soon.

That's great news! I'm excited for you.

I did a first full candle on these eggs last night. Really looking at them. I am down to 7. I pulled one more clear making it three in total and two quitters/ bloodrings.

the others look pretty good for day 6ish. Plus I just found out that these guys are going to be surprises when they hatch as I don’t know which drake is the father the welshie or the black East Indies.

Here is my candling from last night.
