Setting Today (03-02-2012)

I am late joining in, but I set 19 of my own Blue Wheaten/Wheaten Ameraucanas, 4 of my own Mille Fleur bantam Cochins, 4 black bantam Cochins and 8 Blue Mille/Mille bantam Cochin eggs. I candled two days ago and took out my 4 Mille eggs, 5 BW/W Ameraucana eggs and 5 of the other bought bantam Cochin eggs as they were not developing. I got a delivery of 13 more BW/W Ameraucana eggs from White Mountains Ranch and set them on Wednesday night. I collected 3 more eggs from my Mille Cochins and set them on Wednesday night as well. If you were doing the math, I have 38 eggs set.

My 19 BW/W Ameraucana eggs were collected over a 3.5wk period so I am thrilled to still have 14 eggs in there! One does look like it may have quit, but I can't be sure until about day 10.

ETA: I set the first round on 3/2/12. The 2nd round was the 7th.

welcome! youre not too late! i have some eggs that are older too and they're developing fine, as far as i can see.....they are marans and olive eggs.

You all are doing better then I am, even with the ovascope I can't see anything in the BCM eggs. See viens in the EE and a few of the Leghorns

I have 12 RIR eggs going in my incubator...
I just rechecked them @ day 7 a half an hour ago and majority of them have veins and a smaller dark spot.

.I can't believe it's been a week since I incubated the eggs. Hopefully the next 11 days go by fast...

Just candled my eggs.
Of my own 13 eggs 12 have veins, all pullet eggs.
Of the silkies i bought 15 out of 15 show veins.
And the runner duck eggs i bought, i think half show veins.
So i'm quit pleased to see my chicken eggs go great, as far as the runner eggs i'm happy to get some ducklings and if i like it i just might get my some more eggs.

One of the pullets i got eggs from is now brooding on some more eggs. She is on day two.
For me they are the best..........i realy love everything about them.

So, last night i candled all 48 eggs, and had 13 we had to get rid of, either because of them being clear or having a blood ring. But for my first time and still having 35 eggs left at day 7 is pretty good! So here's to waiting for 7 more day to see what we get. The saddest part is that of the 13, 5 of them were our polish eggs and now we don't have any polish eggs to develop. My boyfriend is very upset about this.

How did everyone else's candling go? Or are you waiting til day 10?

I recandled yesterday (Day 7). 11 out of 12 look good - RIR eggs -. Today I recandled 2 and they have a lot of veins today (day 8).
I am surprised because I only saw only one egg with embryo at first like 3-4 days ago but now almost all of them have embros. If they have embyros does that mean I have chicken or can they still not survive till day 18?

its a little blurry...

they can make it all the way to hatch day and then decide to die in the shell (sadly). or they can make it all the way to lockdown and if the humidity is too high they can all drown and none will hatch (or very little). so far though, seems the lil buggers are thriving!

Well I think I have a total loss saw blood rings on all but 2 eggs, I thin :-( so upset!!! Not sure how that happens, my temps were pretty steady.
