setting today 9/15/11 - anyone else?

Yeah just for fun I tried to candle mine too. The pictures online of the spider veins I thought would be cool to see. Too bad all mine are brown and suck at seeing inside. I do have three green ones but those werent any better. I will wait until around day 9 to see if I can see how they are doing. Right now it looks like a couple may not be fertile. I wont do anything rash until I smell something lol.

This post has a lot more traffic than the 9/14 thread. I am in on here too.

I set 9/14.

8 Bantam Cochins
5 Blue Andalusians
8 Sumatras
15 Barnyard Mix
1 Duck - Experiment only

Just did a candling. 30 eggs definitely no good. 90 left on this hatch. I actually planned on losing more than that since ive been short about 3 roosters. Looks like im incubating in the hatcher for the time being.

If this incubation goes well I think I will do another one with my son's class. So many of the other parents have been asking how to get eggs / hens, maybe some will be interested. If not, more for my friends and I.

Hey guys- sorry for jumping in late. I placed 24 chicken eggs in a Lab Incubator (Water Jacketed) on the 16th of September. I have a life time of experience on the farm but this is my first time trying to incubate eggs without a broody hen. The Incubator was given to me from a friend and I thought I should test it out. It holds the temperature very very very well, the only problem is that because it doesnt have any air vents, the humidity remains quite high (circa 75-80%). even with the machine running dry. There is no moisture build up on the eggs or walls (try to touch) so hopefully i have a successfull hatch. I'll post up pics soon. I'm so exited!

No, I'm actually from BC Canada!

Candled the eggs this evening. 3 out of the 4 serama eggs set are developing normally. The oldest of the 4 eggs quit early. Really difficult to make any progress with only one hen laying every couple of days!!

I set 26 eggs on September 12th. I discarded one because it had a definite blood ring - opened it up and it wasn't good. I have two others that I think have blood rings - but I'm leaving them alone. And I have another two that look clean - nothing in it to see.

Every single egg I ordered from Meyer is growing and I see movement in each one! Meyer did a great job of packing the eggs. I received shipments (via the PO) from two different breeders - and have about half of them that show movement. I also got some from a local breeder (no shipping) - and out of 6 eggs - 4 show movement.

This is my first hatch - so I'm anxious to see how it turns out.

Candled my eggs to day one had blood ring so my son gave it a egg funeral. we have 4 eggs that are developing fine . This is first time hatching and we wanted to start small so we did not destroy a lot if we messed up.
