So the night you start incubating the eggs, does it count as day 1 or the following night count as day 1 ?
I wish I could incubate that many eggs!
You know...my experience with my incubator has always been about 20.5 days...I would count the night I set it as day 1 and expect to see them start hatching in the middle of the day on day 21. Not sure if that is the case with everyone else, but it has been very consistent for me.
I have been enjoying myself and learning---keeping up on all the hatches to come. I was trying really hard to not candle till day 10, because they were shipped and scrambled. Couldn't wait and at day 6, had some viable eggs. About 5 had veins and a few with the black eye. That is out of 15 eggs total (one broken on arrival). One is so dark tan I can't tell and one is so very porous. Keeping my fingers crossed. I was advised to cull at day 10. Due date is May 16th @ 0900 :cd Good luck everyone. Lynn Marie
Can we see a picture of it if you have the chance? Ours is a little homemade Styrofoam thingy ma-jig and it fits the 42 egg automatic turner with room to spare...is yours out of wood? I've not seen any Styrofoam boxes that would fit 80+ eggs! That's a lot of chicks!I found my homemade incubator on craigslist and did some modifications to it. I can incubate 82 eggs at a time with the automatic turners. It has served me very well.
