Omg! I was handling half of the eggs tonight since lockdown will start Monday for me and I poked a hole in the egg sac side when tracing it with the pencil! Will he be okay? Should I lockdown early? Help!

Do you mind if I ask for you on another thread to get some more input?

Wow, that's a weak shell, or a sharp pencil. If it's up in the air cell and not around the membrane, there's a good chance that it'll be ok. Since you don't lock down until tomorrow I would take a damp/wet paper towel and lay the egg down on it with the hole facing the towel for now, to try to prevent it from drying out if the whole isn't big. If it's a big hole then I would probly piece the shell back over it if possible, and tape it. Just keep a lose eye on it after lockdown.

As I said earlier in this thread, I run 0-18 days in my big cabinet and hatch in other smaller baters and this allows me to stagger big hatches. I did set a bunch of EE's, Blue Orp's, and Banty's with you guys and will move them today. However, I did have another group of Banty's set a couple of days ahead of these and woke up to a bunch of pips. Gonna be a busy week as I'm staggered to hatch over 200 this week.

Pywakyt, how do the air cells look? If you've had some growth since day 14, I think you're safe to lockdown tonight. Did you cover the crack? And what day is your hatch day? I'm Wednesday.

I'm officially in lockdown! All my shipped eggs were alive tonight when I candled and marked air cells!! I can't wait to get some pips! Good luck to everyone!!

Air cells look great! WAY better then my first attempt. And when I was setting up for lock down today I could hear some of the chicks chirping away in there lol! And just now I heard some peeping solo cute didn't cover the crack. Yes the shell is thin. My hatch day is Wednesday too!

If you can hear peeping then you've got internal pips!!!

I would go into lockdown asap!!! You should have external pips today!! You're ahead of the game. Anytime now!!!

I woke up to chirping far louder then if it was in the egg and flew out of bed so fast! Found two babies in the baton! Thanks God I accidentally poked a hole in one and decided to lock down early!

My Banty batch a day or so ahead of this group set went gangbusters starting at about 12:30 this morning. My daughter just had to take about 15 dry ones out of the hatcher and move to the brooder to make room for the rest. Should start seeing pips on the group we all set together if you haven't already. I haven't looked at that hatcher yet.
