Setting up the bator and setting shipped eggs this week....anyone else wanna join?

Let's see, we'd have west coast, east coast, southern belles and midwest chicks. We'll need to see about some northern girls

Girls....sounds like some fun happening here. Melinda, you would have to be our Northern girl...lol!

I don't have a turner - it is the heat/fan making the noise - and It isn't regulating the heat correctly. I have 3 thermometers in there - and each one reads differently, so that isn't helping! I did run to town and by an LG in case....they said I could bring it back....so bummed. I think I will have to stay awake for 7 days!!

That's terrible. I'm sure it is driving you crazy. What if you turn the fan off and finish the incubation with still air? I used to run the fan but I went back to still air this last hatch and I have had very good luck with my LG. No problems at all with a good hatch rate each time.

I do not use DE. I would not feed it to my birds. I have not used it in the coop but I can see the benefits in a coop for areas high in humidity. It might at some point be something I would use.
Forco is the same thing you can make in a container on your counter for about $2 a year with just the air, water, and your feed.

Vicki, I give mine the Food Grade DE to my chicks and adult flock in small amounts for a few years now with good results health wise. My hubby and I actually take it too.

I started my batch of FF.....I told DH it wasn't for him and not to taste it....LOL!!!

Thanks for the good word on the LG - that is encouraging! All three thermometers are now at 99-100, so I can deal with that. The fan and heater are one unit - so I can't turn it off, but I think we are stable. I don't believe the spike was long or hot enough to hurt anyone - I will candle again on day 18, but spot check the next couple of days. The LG is on "standbye" if I need it. I am glad it happened when I was up and not during the night!

I think my brain has turned to mush! I'm thinking I was the eastern girl! But, ummmm, yeah I AM up north. Duh! Could I at least be northeastern? I need to get out of this state! I think I'll go suck my thumb in a corner for a wee bit:lol:

Vicki - good job on getting your temps stabilized! Nothing worse than that angst.

I think you are "frozen tundra"! I mostly grew up in Minnesota! I remember those long cold winters! I am now in Southern California - 10 minutes from the beach! I can see the snow from my house in the mountains ...that's how Iike it! Gotta put up with ridiculous house prices and a lot of weirdo's though!

WI is definitely frozen tundra...brrr! Melinda would be North East and I guess I'm South East here in FL....definitely a melting pot of people here! Everyone is from somewhere else. Is it like that in CA? I was out in Washington State til 10 yrs ago! I love FL but hubby my get a tugboat job in TX...never lived there...so then I would be mid west?

I don't think I can participate in the egg swap......I don't have a roo

Do all of you have roos? I'm in a neighborhood so I can't have one...hens only. I could order eggs on ebay and ship them to all of you....LOL!!!! Is that cheating??? LOL!
