Setting up the bator and setting shipped eggs this week....anyone else wanna join?

So this must be what dad's felt like in the waiting room before they allowed them to be with the mother when she was giving birth!

I think I look in the bator about every 10 minutes!! I just caught myself putting my ear against it hoping to hear SOMETHING!

How did you know I do that? I just had my ear up to the ventilation hole listening for peeping and I did...LOL!!!

I heard peeping!!! Somebody is waking up in there!!! So exciting! No pips yet......more to come!

One egg is pipped! Probably the one peeping.....YAY!!! The fun has begun!!

How is everyone else's doing? My humidity is still holding at 57%.

Nadda for me....So happy for you!!! Irony of today - just helped my husband cull 3 of the 5 roosters I hatched our a few months ago...I hate that part, but it is always a relief when it is over as the girls are so much happier! Meanwhile.....waiting for brand new fuzzy butts!!!

sponges work..or wet paper towels..I do not worry about humidity unless I have large air cells. I have normal high humidity with out adding moisture. I think I will be loosing many to drowning. Tiny air cells with no water added at all. Tons of moisture in the egg.

 

I know this is going to sound weird, but do you think adding rice to your bator would help reduce humidity. Rice naturally absorbs moisture, could it possibly dry out the air in your bator then with physics, it could potentially draw out the moisture from within the eggs.. Just a theory. What do you think? Can't hurt.

Thanks ladies! I have another PIPPED egg and I hear more peeping....YAY!!! Yes, I had my ear to the bator again! LOL! Did I miss BYC happy hour again? I hear Melinda talking of wine again...LOL! I may need some before the evening is over.

Anything happening in the other bators out there? I want eveeryone to share in the fun. I think tomorrow will be jumping for all of us!!

Humidity is 58% now.....getting better.

YAY for peeping and yes, you are in good company here. Only fellow chicken lovers can appreciate the excitement of a peeping egg... soon to hatch! Now, ears to the bator....
