Setting up the bator and setting shipped eggs this week....anyone else wanna join?

I am so excited by the idea of -buying- chicks.. the thought of hatching my own is almost too much to bare. This thread makes me want it all the more...

Hatching chicks, it's the cheaper version of having another kid (and shorter.. definitely shorter..). Neither my house nor bank account are big enough for more kids (already got two sharing a 100 sqft bedroom. What ARE the living requirements for human chicks anyway?

I am totally new to this too & really didn't expect to build my own incubator much less hatch out eggs, but here I am! I built my cooler bator based on the design provided by Rushlanepoultry on YouTube. It is a 3or 4 part video where he takes you from start to finish on building your own incubator! As I recall I searched Building and wiring your incubator.... There's also a Learning Center page for building your own on here too. Good luck and welcome to BYC!

Good Morning! Day 20 and I found 5 pipped eggs this morning and I hear lots of peeping in the bator! I think a couple will hatch today...I hope! Humidity is at 57% and holding.

Took some pics of the pipped eggs...there are 6 now! They are peeping like crazy!

I have nothing..I hear peeping but that's about it. I do not expect any activity till tonight or tomorrow. I am still debating raising humidity and how much since my silkie eggs have so much fluid. My other eggs are doing well and I expect them to pip tonight. I am right on time. I am excited and worried all at the same time. They will come...patience grasshopper.

Exciting...peeping leads to pipping! I think we will all have a hatchling(s) by later tonight. Just in the last hour, a couple of mine have pushed a few pieces of shell off. So cute to see their little beak push through and take that first breath of air.
