She is a Cornish and leghorn cross..Soo---ooo cute Delisha! Love the dancing Silkie
What type of broody hen do you have?
Good luck..I am trying silkies again..they should ship today or tomorrowWell,
This time I am setting mailed shipped eggs, Columbian rocks, and just a few of BLRW.
They went to the care of the post office yesterday,SHUDDER, SHUDDER, I hope they are kind. I have had both good and bad luck with them. Good luck twice and bad luck once. My Hb worked in the PO here before he retired so maybe at least here they will get a fair chance, no telling along the way though.![]()
I am keeping a certain amt. of the chicks and wish to sell the others. The EE's are growing like little weeds. They are from an EE hen and a Wheaten Ameracuana roo.
The other 4, I will keep. One is a complete mutt of mixes. The other two are French BCMs+ the Ameracuana roo. I wanted some olive eggers. I will only keep females for my flock, probably one of each.
The Columbians are for my BR. I'll snitch a few. The BLRW will be mine if I get any females. I will only have 4 of them to hatch. Wish me luck. Shipped eggs are always a gamble. Mainly I am hatching eggs to make this winter go faster. I want soooo much to go back to my mtn home. I am planning to go late March, Yeah. Another Chicken Migration.![]()
Out of drafts and direct sunlight. I keep mine in a spare bedroom or the basement in a surround.LOVING all these chick pictures!!!
I am so close to buying an incubator....really....one question though.....where is the best spot in the house to keep it and where do you all keep yours?
Vicki - your chicks are soooooo cute! I love the Elvis pose Silkie! LOL! I love broody babies too!I just want everyone to know I had power outage during hatch. They were due to hatch on Wednesday-Thursday February 6- 7Th. They did not finish hatch till Monday February 11Th. Cooling the eggs for a few hours can delay hatching by many days. Do not lose hope or patience in your eggs if you loose power. I did not hatch out as many as I should have hatched out, but I have 11 healthy chicks.I am grateful.
Can't wait to hear about your next hatching adventure coming up!! Keep us posted. My babies are growing so fast and I heard 2 little babies CROW this morning! I couldn't believe but two of the chicks stretched their little necks and faint little crow. So cute!Well,

CONGRATS Melinda! I am so glad you have some babies! What day is it for the remaining eggs? Can't wait to see the baby pics...Good mornin everyone. Well, we have three hatchlings in the bator now (finally, whew) I have one that pipped well below where the air cell is and three with no pipping at all. I haven't gotten to watch any actually hatch or unzip. Sneaky lil chicks. Maybe a web cam next time, lol! How long should I wait for the non-pippers before deciding they're just not going to do anything? I know the chicks will be OK for 72+/- hours before requiring food and water so is that my cutoff for taking the "duds" out and putting the babies in the brooder?
Oh yes, I have two Black stars and one RIR & will post pix as soon as they're fluffy and out(condensation issues on window)... Need more vent holes in bator. Good learning experience for me with my homemade incubator. I think had I not had two power failures they may have hatched "on time".
Hey Gloria Jean, have you said what kind of eggs you'll be getting this time around? And what will you do with all of those fuzzy butts?
LOVING all these chick pictures!!!
