Severe diarrhea in doeling, need advice.

I know this sounds stupid but rub her belly on the sides it will make her burb or gas which will help her if it is bloat

I'm copying this from fiasco farms....Some is rather intense in suggestions. Notice the suggestion for vegetable oil and the amounts of it:

"Signs of bloat:

The abdomen is obviously distended, especially on the left side.
Signs of discomfort such as "mawing", kicking or grinding their teeth. Depression
In more serious forms: difficulty breathing.

Prevention:

Make sure to offer baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) free choice so the goats can regulate their rumens on their own. Baking soda aids in balancing the pH level in the rumen and helps to keep the digestive processes in tune.
Always make changes in diet gradual (especially with grain)
Restrict grazing time on rapidly growing rich pasture, or administer oil before turning them out on the pasture.
Don't turn out very hungry goats onto rich pasture; fill them up on hay first.

Treatment:

Stop the goat from eating any more.
Administer orally 1/4 - 1/3 cup of vegetable/peanut oil.
The oil breaks the tension of the bubbles in the stomach/fermentation vat, so they can then pop and the gas expelled.
Do not use mineral oil. Because mineral oil is tasteless, the goat may not know to swallow and the mineral oil could get into their lungs.
Massage goats sides, especially the left side (rumen) until the goat begins to burp and fart.
If the bloat is really bad, call a vet immediately because the pressure in the abdomen can could stop the lungs and heart from working. The veterinarian will release the gas by making a small incision. The incision is made four fingers width behind the bottom of the ribs on the left side of the goat as it lies.
If the goat is near death, as a last resort, you may try puncturing the rumen with a stabbing action, using a very sharp, pointed knife or preferably a trocar and cannula. Aim for the highest spot on the left side and plunge into the rumen. The danger with this is that the rumen contents and/or dirt from the outside can get between the layers between the rumen, peritoneum and skin and cause a very serious infection called peritonitis. But if the goat in near death, anything is worth trying to save her. "

If I find anything else, I'll let you know. Goold luck and bless you.

Hope she makes it !
I had to stay up all night with my wether last time he bloated.I had to tube him and keep rubbing on his belly. He made it but I lost a doeling to bloat a few years ago.

Thanks bargain, her stomach is not noticeably distended. I won't give her the oil as that will exasperate her already dehydrating diarrhea. But that will be great information to keep just in case I need it in the future(knock on wood that I never do). So thank you.

This is going to sound weird but this is what we did for diarrhea in goats.
Get some of your other/older goats poop and smash it.Make sure it is fresh...Then put it in a syringe with water or milk and force feed it to them. It puts the right bacteria back in their stomachs.

It worked wonders for us and we never had anymore problems.

You can also steal the cud from other goats and I know that this helps. The probios and the scour stopper (vet style is so needed).

How is the goat today?

She seems a slightly bit better today. She is still weak and listless but she is fighting against the pepto administration much stronger today but is more accepting of the electrolytes. She spent the night inside and is now back outside, she walked straight to the barn and is hiding in the back corner. Just laying there, she did eat 1 tiny leaf from the willow tree not sure if thats good or not for her to be eating again. I am going to ask the vet about running a fecal sample.

She is doing much better tonight but I had a... bad evening. She is now eating bits of hay and drinking on her own and her diarrhea is starting to slowly firm up. Pudding consistency instead of water. (the color was brown, maybe a touch of yellowish instead of dark brown).

My bad evening, I went to my husband s baseball game for a relaxing break, they went into extra innings it took longer than we thought it would and got home after dark around 915 here. We went to lock the birds up...are missing a rock barr hen.....why don't we lose the extra roo?? Found a cat(very friendly) with a litter of 5 in my recycling box...still wet little babies... AND found one of my turkeys appearing to have a broken leg...I can't even imagine what happend while we were gone...I guess I learn to process a turkey in the morning(this one too being one of the hens I plannned to keep....argh...When it rains it pours)
