Severe Frostbite On Cockerel

Good advice from @azygous
Just checking in to see how he's doing, he's beautiful! Sorry about the frostbite, hopefully he'll heal quickly.
Thank you! I gave him the aspirin so hopefully that'll help.
I give him another one this evening, correct? And how many days should I give them morning and evening for?

Aspirin is safe to give for a couple weeks running at that dose. About the only concern would be if he should get a bleeding wound, then aspirin would interfere in coagulation.

Got it, thanks! How long would you recommend doing it for? He's looking/feeling much better but he does keep shaking his head from side to side. Like 10 times in a row, not the usual head shake birds sometimes do.

A couple pics from today. The swelling has mostly gone down.

The head shaking is him trying to shake off the pain. I've experienced something very close to frostbite on my feet, called chillblains, and I can tell you, it hurts something fierce, with similar blisters and swelling. There is no treatment for that either, and it just needs to heal. Unfortunately, it will take a few months for his comb to completely heal, but the pain should get less each day. Once the swelling decreases, he will then feel much better.

My rooster drank some water out of an open container a week ago and got Frostbite on his comb and wattles but I put some plantain tea on it and he's better.Check this video out if you want to learn how to make it. Swab it on their wattles and comb at least once a day until its better. Its very good for pain and swelling and will prevent them getting infected. You can't put plantain tea on their comb and wattles when the temperatures below freezing so wait until the temperatures above freezing or bring the rooster inside.Let their comb and wattles dry good after swabbing the tea on before taking them back out.As long as its above freezing you can apply it outdoors.Heres a quick video on how to make the tea using a coffee pot. Let it cool before you use it and freeze the rest in an ice tray so all you have to do when you need some is pop it out of the ice tray. I store mine in baggies in the freezer
