Severe sinus infection, what can I do? Been to Dr three times already!

I did Flonase a couple years ago and it never did a great job, Dr Ou switched me to Nasonex and it is much better, when I remember to use it. Try warming a wet washcloth in the micrwave and placing it over your face, that may help relieve some of the immediate pressure. Do you have any Saline Spray?

No slaine spray. I have tried the towl and it helps for a minute or two.

You make make some with salt and warm water, but you have to snort it up your nose. Unless you have an old nasal spray bottle and can use that.

I had this same thing from the end of Sept. till just before christmas. I was on 4 different antibiotics and major steroids before it finally left me. Try the netti pot, Mucinex D and you have to ask for it. Get the generic it is cheaper. Use the Flonase(sp) , plus neo syephrine and saline solution. use the neo only for a few day, then just the saline. Once you get the netti pot, you won't need the saline!
I did massage the sinus areas also, do your forehead, under the eyes and massage your nose as well. Talk to your Dr and see if there is anything they can do, explain your situation, he might be able to hook you up with samples. Something better then the mucinex D. Mucinex dm, is more for cough, the D is for nasal congestion!
Good luck

You could be vitamin D deficient. Deficiency makes you more vulnerable to infection.

I take Calrson's Brand liquid D3 drops during the winter. If I do get sick (and I don't very often anymore) it only lasts a few days and it is more annoying than debilitating.

get some VirkonS (make sure it is VirkonS and not just plain ole virkon) and mist that regular in the rooms you are in (think of it as a cheap nebulizer). You can also mist the chicken coop before you go in (the dust in there is not going to help things and the virkonS will kill any mold spores in the air and the simple act of misting will reduce the airborn dust).
Look on the equine sites... they usually have sachets or the tablets are pretty affordable.

I know how bad it can be, as bad or worse than a migraine. I am another Neti pot user. After having 4 sinus infections in 11 months, I gave it a try. That was over a year ago, I believe, and I haven't had a sinus infection since.

Very interesting! Noted...

I did get the Mucinex-D and I feel a bit better already. I have not felt like sewing in quite some time but am actually working on a Dog Coat for Lemurchaser's pitbull now

Just be very careful and see your doctor regularly for this!!! I use to get sinus infections all the time. The last sinus infection I got did not drain and turned into bacterial meningitis, I lost my hearing and was in the hospital for 3 months on deaths door!

Lockedhearts brought me something called Sinus Rinse. It is a rinse made by NeilMed (they make the netipots) I'm gonna try it and see how it works.
