Severe Storms and Chickens

Mine have a couple of covered areas next to the hen house, if it rains hard or storms they take shelter under those. It has to be really bad before they will actually go inside the hen house, that has only happened a couple of times.

I am laughing now. Thanks guys. I live in Florida and Big storms are really a normal thing. We just had a doozy. I let my girls free range from when ever I get up 😜 to just before dark. If I go out early they look at me like ...seriously? At any rate I was just curious with this storm, usually they just walk around in it, so I went out, yes in the middle of the storm, to see if they went in the coop...nope they were on my front porch (big open and roof). Silly girls. When it went down to a sprinkle they were right back out enjoying the bugs. My young girls (3 months ish) have a coop attached to their run and they were outside in it. They act like ducks.
FL too & mine are free rangers - sometimes they hide under bushes & sometimes they're out & about in it. We've received over 8" of rain in 2 days. Today they were soaked!

Ya know what you mean. I guess they would be pretty sad being locked up during rainy/hurricane season. They sure don’t seem to mind so I am letting them decide lol

Typical storms I let them decide; however, impending hurricane they are in the house in dog crates. They are so shiny & clean after getting a fresh, soft water rainbath!
