Interesting that you used "teff", I looked it up and it resembles the planted grass clump my broody coturnix hen used in the aviary where she successfully hatched and raised several chicks in the summer :)
 
Hi there.

"Teff" is fantastic nesting material.

I prefer it mostly because it makes for easier nest building and holds both form and heat quite nicely.

An added benefit is that it's so soft that it bends and buckles with minimal effort - so very little, if any, pieces too poke and prod the quail.
I believe this makes for a longer stay in the nesting box, that in turn raises the chance of natural incubation.
