I’ve seen several threads related to sewing (Seeing Machine Collecters, Quilting, specific projects, etc. But there doesn’t seem to be a general sewing thread so I decided to creat one. Share favorite patterns, what you are working on, finished projects, questions or ideas!

I’ve been sewing for about 10 years and dabbled in quilting a bit. I’ve completed several projects from pillow cases to aprons and dresses.

I’ve currently got a few projects lined up. A satin pillow case, a skirt and an apron.
Now that I'm not posting in commercial breaks like last night, I can post properly. :D

Been sewing for over 10 years, mainly quilts, but I will learn anything that peaks my interest. I do egg aprons, cooking aprons, tote bags, table runners, bowl cozies, baskets, and helpful or decorative type items. I've sewn a few clothing items, but am not good at it.

Several vintage Singers live with me and all sew very well, though the featherweight still needs some work. A treadle though... I'd love to find one someday. Or just the cabinet so I can convert one of my current machines to the cabinet.

My machines range from the 1920's to 2019 for ages and my small/domestics are- Singers, Brothers, Kenmore, and a Pfaff. My semi-industrial straight stitch is a Juki.
My big longarm is a Handi Quilter.

One would never know I got a big fat F for the sewing portion of home ec in middle school, and I was NOT allowed to touch my mother's sewing machine growing up because machines tended to get broken around me. After those experiences I was afraid of sewing for a long time!
Years later the strong desire to make things for my kiddo prompted me to pick up a clearanced shelf model machine for $40. It had problems, but I finally learned to sew on my own. Eventually I taught myself to quilt.

Projects... oy! I get bored easy and usually have mutiple projects going at once.

I lost most my vision to Graves disease. I learned to quilt with my Grandma.
Forced to retire after a stroke, I started hand quilting until I was drawing more blood than safe ..
I bought a vintage White same as Grandma had.
My current one is mid 20's model a motor was added but still knee feed .. Later I picked up a my Viking little green machine. Sold one White rotary bought another one .. see if I can get a photo of it today... The quilt I made is called inside out with a whimsical back on it.

I learned to sew with my mom's old Singer. She got into sewing clothes for us kids and her mom. She got a Husqvarna in 1972, and I have it now.

I've made some clothes for myself, including my wedding dress. Don't be impressed; it was just a summer dress made from the curtains I made for my apartment. (Don't think Carol Burnett, either, lol!) All those yards of broadcloth, I wasn't going to leave the curtains for the next tenant.

I want to make something out of the feed bags accumulating in the mudroom. Has anyone made shopping bags out of them? Anything else?

I have and I love them!!
Busy baking today, but give me some time and I'll see if I have the link I used for guidance. I'll post mine too.
It's really easy, but I suggest washing/scrubbing the bags first. Even washed, it still makes for a lot of dust.

I soaked my plastic woven bags in the tub in warm water, scrubbed, rinsed, and hung dry.
